A Big Night Of Musicals - AO Arena Manchester / BBC1

The National Lottery's Big Night Of Musicals will be hosted by Jason Manford and aims to celebrate all that has been done by theatre enthusiasts over the last two years. Thousands of tickets have been made available to representatives from hundreds of National Lottery-funded community and grassroots arts organisations.

Frozen, Dear Evan Hansen, Disney's The Lion King, Back to the Future, The Drifters Girl, Beauty and the Beast, Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock, Bat Out Of Hell, Dreamgirls and The Wiz will all feature in the evening, with more to be announced. The presence of specific performers is also to be confirmed.

Manford said today: "After a very difficult 20 months for the theatre industry, I am proud and honoured to be hosting this National Lottery musical spectacular. The event promises to be a brilliant show full of celebration, featuring some of the best musicals on right now. I can't wait for 24 January next year!"

The event takes place on 24 January 2022, with doors opening from 5.45pm.


The National Lottery’s Big Night Of Musicals: The biggest musicals on one stage for one night only with every ticket available for free to National Lottery players with just a £2 booking fee per ticket.

Please note that the first 7,000 tickets released for The National Lottery’s Big Night Of Musicals have already been claimed but a further 3,000 tickets will be available from 9am, Friday 7 January 2022.

Bearing in mind many of those shows have two London performances on a Wednesday, it will be interesting if they're having the covers perform in London, or if Manchester will get the covers rather than the stars.

I'm guessing the numbers will be performed by star guests, rather than actual casts.

I DMd the lotto instagram and they told me it had changed to that date, but maybe they were on about something else if it hasn't changed on the website!

Just had an advert on Facebook reminding me the next wave of tickets is tomorrow at 09:00
I am off that day but not sure I fancy getting all the way to Manchester - Especially if it will be on TV too now.

Voices really didn't blend and it sat badly for both performers.

Well I'm throughly enjoying it. Musical theatre on prime time Saturday night BBC ain't bad at all.
Audience seem to be loving it too.
You have to remember that most people in the audience and the TV audience don't go to the theatre several times a week like some of us do and we can sometimes be over critical. (I'm not including myself).
Anyway little Sam is on now. Bless him!
