Well after a lot of faffing about I finally made my trip to see this production of Oklahoma!
I love Oklahoma it was one of the first "classic" musicals I really got into so was nervous but also excited to see this somehow I just never got round to it earlier and now I'm gutted because I have had the most wonderful afternoon.
I really felt like it all just worked for me the sudden shock of senses as the music amplified or the lights changed or a scene in the dark which really just for me made me listen to the text and the delivery of the lines.
I really enjoyed the ballet it was very different and quite out there compared to the original I suppose but I throughly enjoyed it and the ending really got to me.
I found my self moved to tears a lot throughout this show nd much more so than in any previous production.
Pore Jud is dead and lonely room I was a mess in what is usually a scene that can for me get a bit boring.
I have had a wonderful afternoon and if I wasn't seeing La Cage tonight or didn't have to be back on Cumbria for work Tommorrow I would certainly see this again before it closes.
I can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea but it was fun to also see and hear people reacting to the piece especially the older audience members who were familiar with the original.
A great piece of theatre and an easy 5 stars from me.

I was there on Monday. Front row rush (I got wet). The sound here is just perfection, and, as I'm sure I must have said before, these songs performed with that country edge have just never sounded better.
It's such a shame that the intimacy of the Young Vic version of the show just couldn't transfer to the West End. I think that says something too about the different audiences. After a transfer, it's no longer an exclusive club.
I feel I should get back just once more before this closes. It's a shame this is closing on the same week as Heathers as I don't know which rush tickets to go for first!

Left this to the last minute and made a first visit on Tuesday night. Really enjoyed it and 4* from me. Not much to add to some of the more recent comments, but I've been following this thread and do think I appreciated it more from knowing a little of what to expect. If I wasn't busy the rest of the week I'd have made a second visit.
Gave up a front row rush ticket and ended up a little further back in mid-stalls. After seeing a few get wet and the interaction I wasn't upset with my decision!

Paid my final visit last night and I was the chosen one in the front row to be serenaded up close and personal by Ado Annie in Act 1. Loved every second of it...
A fab show which I think could do well on tour. Still don't like the different ending though. Cold blooded murder can never be self defense.

Have closing night tickets booked for tomorrow and it will be my 9th visit since the Young Vic! As much as I'd love to see more of it, I don't think it would do well on a uk tour, so probably the last we'll be seeing of it for a while

Had to see this one last time before it closed and it was a great night. Cast was on excellent form, enthusiastic audience (apart from the woman behind me who fell asleep and snored through the very silent bit at the end).
I'm really glad this was transferred. Its been one of my favourite shows I've seen this year.

well closing was a very emotional affair tonight. lots of tears and so much applause after the everyone (the understudies and crew came on to join bows) left the stage they all had to come back out for a second round of bows.

Daniel Fish was in the audience last night. I thought as usual the show was just perfect. I already miss it.

I ended up seeing the Friday evening performance (from the front row) and the Saturday matinee (from a few rows back). Both were rush tickets. I didn't expect to like sitting further back, but actually I got a very clear view and picked up on things I hadn't seen before. It is a comfortable theatre (at least in the Stalls).
I have to say that I did really take to this production in the end. Full credit to all of the cast too, especially Stavros Demetraki and James Patrick Davis, who I saw every time, always full of enthusiasm. James also brought a dog on stage for the Friday performance at the start of the second half, all dressed up like it was Christmas. Very cute!
The Saturday matinee was exceptionally enthusiastic, as you might expect. Sally Ann Triplett (also always excellent) showed that Aunt Eller is just as keen at kissing as Ado Annie. Even Cord (Phillip Olagoke) got a nice kiss from Will Parker (James Patrick Davis).
I know that traditionalists didn't like this production too much, but I enjoyed this so much more than a traditional Oklahoma! (and that's speaking as someone who generally thinks that the Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals are the greatest of all time). I regret that I couldn't make the final performance, but that's timing for you. Hopefully this will production will get another outing at some point, but if not, I do hope that these orchestrations survive.

Anyone heard if this will tour? I really really hope it will as I adored this production. But I really doubt it will since it didn't seem like a commercial success. Praying for it though.
