As it cant be squeezed into the thread title it’s at the MAST Mayflower Studios Southampton from 6th to 20th November.

The full tour is going to be much longer than the five dates above. At Sheffield's Lyceum from 31 May to 5 June 2022, for example.

If Chichester and Southampton are typical the ticket prices are exceptionally reasonable. I'm booked at Chichester, all seats £10-£25 there.
Still remember my first visit to Six at the Arts Theatre in a £6 seat so hopefully this will achieve similar success.

I had been going to book for this until I saw the very short running time and realised I didn't want to go all the way to and from Chichester just for that and in the winter. However, it does otherwise sound very tempting so I hope it travels idc. And bizarrely, the running time has now vanished from the CFT site.

Having now found the estimated running time (70 mins) on the show's own site rather than CFT's, I think that must be where I originally found it. Should it turn out nearer the time to be a bit longer, worth the trip but otherwise I'll hold off.

Just got back from tonight's viewing at the Liverpool Playhouse and unfortunately this really didn't do much for me I'm afraid. Based on the picture book by Kate Pankhurst, at the start we are introduced to a young girl called Jade and her stuffed toy bear called Bearonce (who even gets a credit in the programme!) in a museum and Jade is trying to sort out a few home issues. Through the show we are taken on a journey with Jade with some of the ladies who have helped shape the world who try to help her solve these issues.
The different ladies are played by the cast of 4 accompanied by the band of 3 (2 keys and 1 percussion) who are perched high up on the stage set which is made to look like a disused room in a museum. For me the show felt like something of a kids educational show rather than something like SIX. During the show, each personality explains what they have done in their lives. As 12 women are detailed, it really is a whistle-stop tour of each lady over the 75 minutes with many of the characters combining in some songs rather than getting their own number.

The songs aren't that bad but none stuck in my head walking out of the theatre. I think it's trying to be like SIX but for me doesn't work. The SIX songs stuck with me post show, these ones didn't. I just didn't get that wow factor with this show. If you've got young kids then probably this may work for them, but as an adult It was just ok.

I thought the songs were pretty good, a couple in particular did really stick in my head (the released ones, so maybe that helped), and it's performed very enthusiastically by a likable cast.
It does seem to be aimed at a pre-teen audience though - it's a sweet, fun little show but I don't think it can appeal in the way Six does because it's pitching so young. I went with a friend rather than my daughter (oops) and felt like I'd very much miscalculated and should have had my 11 year old with me!

It's educational as well as entertaining and as such ideal for families or a school party and I note there's a well-booked 10.30 performance today. Saturday is almost sold out. I wouldn't say any of the musical number scale the heights of Six but most are certainly catchy, it zips along and the cast are great especially the young lady who played Jade. It was supposed to finish at 20.10, started at 19.08 and ended at 20.26 so I'd say closer to 80 minutes running time. Pleased to see all non mask wearers being approached by staff with a supply and asked whether exempt, several accepted and put one on. Lovely theatre and my front row centre stalls ticket only cost £15 with a similar amount spent on the rail travel thanks to cheap advance tickets. |

I saw she's in for Frances at the moment, not sure how long for though. |
