Very excited for another Punchdrunk show, although I do feel like immersive theatre has had its name rather sullied in the years they’ve been absent from London.
If anyone can make it good again, it’s Punchdrunk.

Fwiw, they'll hedge their bets until the day it runs but it won't be a surprise if that section of Crossrail becomes operational around the same time, at least as far as connecting services.
Unbelievably, you can be at Farringdon in 16 minutes.

I had to go through several dates before I found an 18:30 entry slot that had any tickets with the early discount. Must be a lot of Keyholders still who bought these up.
Oddly, they accept payment by Diners Club, as well as Mastercard and Visa, but not American Express. But you can still pay by Amex using Paypal.
Some weird dynamic pricing going on:
"Early Rate" at reduced-price preview on Wed 13 April 18:50 = £55.00 + £1.50 fee
"Early Rate" on Sat 30 July 18:30 = £45.00 + £1.50 fee

Yeah pricing seems really odd, dates jumping to 65 and then 45 (unavailable of course) the next day.
The website does say:
A Rush Tickets scheme will be available in 2022.
Sign up to the Punchdrunk mailing list to be the first to hear more.
Which might do me, trying to navigate to find dates on See Tickets is awful.

Found £45 tickets but only eventually. Booked for early July. No queue just a bit of a faff finding remaining early bird options.

The refund stipulations are completely ridiculous IMHO. A doctor's certificate? Death certificate? Crime reference number? For paid ticket insurance?
Is this normal? It's not like they'd have any trouble reselling the cheap seats.

It's a long way away, I foolishly assumed it would be wise to be able to get a refund no questions asked if needs be. Instead it seems I would need a death in the family and actual legal documents. |

I would be surprised if it wasn’t. And no, if they require the audience to wear masks they don’t tend to make exceptions as far as I know. But I would contact them and ask. They might give you the option to go in maskless with an access guide. I don’t think anyone will get the regular free roaming experience without wearing a mask though. It’s just a big part of how their shows work. |

Found it fine but I remember feeling quite hot - however I saw it in July and and so many people. I got used to it, I actually do have a Punchdrunk mask randomly. The white masks are audience. The black masks are silent guides. Everyone else is maskless and a member of the cast.
I can't see how Punchdrunk could make exceptions to their conditions of entry without causing confusion and spoiling the aesthetic.
A solution would be to have relaxed/sensory-friendly performances where the whole audience wore a badge instead, but I cant imagine it would be very good. Besides, there are some very intense moments during these shows outside of the one-on-ones -- I think of the witches' naked, stroboscopic rave/orgy in Sleep No More, or the scissor stabbings in The Drowned Man -- that would mean that a lot of content would have to be cut.

I contacted Punchdrunk and they said it should have been on the booking terms as you have to wear the mask, so I sent them exactly what you see at the booking stage, and there's no mention of the mask. They said they couldn't refund and I would have to go to see tickets for it. See tickets don't respond to anything, I sent two complaints and then a further two emails until it got close to the point that if I didn't do a chargeback then it would be too late. |
