To contribute as well. there’s some extensive lore regarding the fanbase that initially gravitated towards this show when it first opened over here. It’d been absent from America for a while, and Heathers kinda blew up within the younger theatre demographic when it began on the West End. Beyond the drama, I think it’s a decent show with a fun score and an amusing book. It’s not a spectacle, but humorous and gripping enough:) not something I’d pay more than £40 for. Some have a grudge also due to the fact that it’s been touring quite frequently now, although I’ve seen shows like Six at the same venue on tour within the space of a year. So who knows…. |

I've loved the show when it first came out. It just feels overdone now. I'd love to see a new staging, maybe a little darker, with actual 80s style costumes. And I never liked the Candy Store choreography.
I also understand that this show is a cash cow and safe investment for the producers, so I see why it's coming back.

Personally I think the show is good (definitely not great, but not bad either), It does suffer with cheap staging, but I can look beyond that. For me the issue will always be the audience, it has a massive following in the younger girl (and gay) audiences, that scream, squeal and cheer non-stop and it is hard to ignore and enjoy the show.

I must say I don't mind a bit of that on the right kinds of occasions. I'm a gay girl, (hanging on for dear life to the 'younger' part at 34!), so maybe this will be fun for me.  |

If you go in expecting it, and you are happy with it, then I'm sure you will have a great time, as I said the show is good (or was the twice I've watched it live). If you are not expecting that behaviour it does snap you back to reality too many times. Now I just listen to the cast recording and have watched the filmed version. I would say don't listen too much to the people that say it has outstayed it's welcome, as if that is the case, there is a lot of West End shows that are well overdue a break, it still draws a crowd. |

TBH, I don't think it would receive quite as much criticism if it had opened (or initially transferred) in a small West End house and had remained open this whole time (probably not viable, but just as a thought) - I think the feeling of it constantly 'returning' and the feeling of it 'taking up space' at The Other Palace (which was designed to champion and develop new work) just added to the general feeling of malaise that some people experience with this show...
...I still don't like the direction though.

I have no insider information, but I'd think of this as a tour stop. Earlier in the thread, people were suggesting that previous cast members were returning, which makes sense as it reduces rehearsal time/cost (obviously, it would be those people who aren't currently working elsewhere). |

Does anyone have any inside info on casting for this production? Will they keep it the same across the UK tour and Soho Place runs and will they do repeat castings or are previous cast members just teasing this to create hype?

It’s been pointed out on here in the past that it’s pretty much standard practice for Paul Taylor Mills’ productions to only bother to announce the cast a few days before they open.

Erin Caldwell has just commented on the new Heathers teaser post “they are in for a TREAT”.. I don’t think she’d come back to it as that would mean she’d have to leave Six early but curious as to what she knows?
