Thanks, one of my favourite small venues. Shall definitely pop over to see this.
It's not the in-house company (Ovation), so must be an external hire. I think it's the same group who put on Strike Up The Band two or three years, which was very different in style to Ovation, but quite enjoyable and a chance to see a rarely performed musical.

I saw this years ago at the Union and found it totally hilarious. Good to see a new production happening.

Or as Mrs Slocombe would say “Call Me Modom”

Not sure if 9 September has sold out or opening night postponed but currently only available from 10 September. Just booked.

How easy is it to get to this venue & what’s the capacity? Tempted by this but not sure if it’s too far out...

How easy is it to get to this venue & what’s the capacity? Tempted by this but not sure if it’s too far out... It's a 15 minute walk from Highgate underground station, mostly uphill. Capacity is approx 120, I think, but the seating layout varies by production. It's quite a decent sized space and well ventilated. Generally the in-house musicals have a traverse layout, other productions like this usually have the audience on three sides. I've found previous shows by Alces Productions to be serviceable and pleasant enough but not a patch on the in-house Ovation shows which are consistently outstanding.

If you get off a stop earlier at Archway there are plenty of buses going up the hill. When I used to travel that way I'd bus from King's Cross all the way to the top of Highgate Hill where the theatre is.

Anyone seen Call Me Madam yet? Also, is it unreserved seating at this venue?

Not yet, hoping to catch it at some point. Press night is tomorrow I believe (Tuesday 14th).

Anyone seen Call Me Madam yet? Also, is it unreserved seating at this venue? Yes I have. Seating is unreserved. There were only about 40 people there (last Friday) and all sat in the centre block. Running time is two hours including a 20 minute interval though the second act is only 30 minutes. Professional production , excellent cast of 9, virtuoso performance by Rosemary Ashe in the title role. I really enjoyed Call Me Madam and recommend it unreservedly as another winner for the Gatehouse. It is an 18 minute drag up the hill walking slowly, but there are three frequent bus services, the walk back down took me 12 minutes.

Thanks Paul26 - sounds like a great production and well worth seeing. Rosemary Ashe is always great and I can well imagine she shines in this. Will have to try to get to a Sunday performance if I can, and come up for the day. Have to work out tube logistics from Paddington, but am sure it can be done! Thanks for all the info.

I can second Paul26 in thoroughly recommending this production. Sadly there were only about 24 of us in the audience on Wednesday but this did not seem to put that cast off at all and they gave hugely enjoyable enthusiastic performance.
It is a 15 minute walk from Highgate tube but I would recommend using the TFL Journey planner to plan the route if you are going on a Sunday in case of engineering works.

Cancelled tonight which is a shame as it was my evening show after Anything Goes. Not sure why it's been cancelled but the Box Office offered any other performance (or a refund) so presumably it's just tonight. If I can get back before 10th October I'll rebook.
