So pleased that we are back to shaming people for their beliefs, however unpalatable they may be. Having beliefs doesn't make them untouchable, anyone is entirely allowed to criticise them. And if you think a refusal to get vaccinated is something that shouldn't be shamed then that says a lot in itself in my opinion. She is putting others at risk voluntarily (if she had a valid exemption we would certainly know about it), she deserves to be criticised and she deserved to be sacked from Crazy for You.

So pleased that we are back to shaming people for their beliefs, however unpalatable they may be. I think this is a belief that warrants being shamed. She doesn’t give a damn about anyone but herself and therefore should not be able to work in an industry that has been devastated by the pandemic. If patrons aren’t allowed to go watch a Broadway show without being vaccinated, she should not be allowed to perform. Just putting it out there… I’m quite happy if it is what it takes to reopen theatres & concert venues safely. “”Principled” folk like Ms.Osnes need to decide if they are happy to lose work over it is all. But furthermore it illustrates the voracity and judgemental nature of people on what is meant to be a friendly message board.

So pleased that we are back to shaming people for their beliefs It's not her beliefs that are the problem, it's her actions. What if she 'believed' in drunk driving and suited her actions to her beliefs?

As long as she is prepared to isolate and be tested regularly I see no reason why she cannot perform 2 concerts in London. I’m very pro-vaccine but I can understand (just about) why otherwise healthy young women don’t want it - I know a few who have said they don’t want to risk anything that might impact their fertility. Speaking as a young-ish woman whose fertility might potentially be impacted, that is not an argument for not being vaccinated. The same could be said about many different medicines/drugs. And catching Covid badly and being long term sick or even dying are both worse impacts on the potential ability to have children than an unproven risk from a vaccine that is proven to have so many more benefits. And there is more than one way to have a family of course. So anyone using that argument in my opinion is selfish and willingly putting others at a known risk so they can guard against a hypothetical outcome. That is not acceptable and they should not be hired for any situation where they have to be in close contact with others in a risk situation like singing. Testing and isolation doesn't cut it, and I would not want to share a stage with anyone unvaccinated at the minute.

I read this is being cancelled. The usual friend of a friend told me thing... i'll be very surprised if it is. I assumed Jeremy Jordan was the bigger draw, and they'd just swap Laura out for someone else, if they did continue with it. I'm guessing it means that Laura Can't fly without a vaccine certificate either, which might be a problem...
Dang. I should have waited for the announcement and then said, i KNEW this was happening, but couldn't say anything. Which drives me up the wall!

It would be such a shame if 4,000 people don't get to enjoy this concert of a show so rarely performed in this country (or anywhere) because one woman couldn't be bothered to get vaccinated.

I know of 2 producers who have tried to get B&C into the west End, one even had the theatre booked for it in 2014, but then it fell through.

DLAP Entertainment (Curtains, Rock of Ages Tour) had the rights for Bonnie & Clyde here and it was moving forward before Covid but don't know what the status is now.
I hope this concert isn't cancelled, it seems to me they could replace Laura with someone quite easily and it still be sold out, especially if it's another Broadway leading lady. I think Jeremy would always be the biggest draw anyway.

I think there’s more to it than just refusing to be vaccinated. According to some articles, reps for the Hamptons production she was fired from have said performers have a choice of either showing proof of being fully vaccinated or a regular negative covid test. Going by that, it sounds like she may not even be willing to take a test. Also bear in mind that the need to isolate for 10 days and the extra testing for unvaccinated arrivals in the UK is all extra cost. Do the B&C producers now have to budget for the extra 10 night hotel stay just for her? Plus of course her fee for an extra 10 days? Or is she expected to pick up that tab herself since she’s the one refusing the vaccine? All very grey.

Doesn't look too good, does it?!!? Dyin' ain't so bad has an entirely new meaning to it...If Laura doesn't end up performing in Bonnie and Clyde or if this is cancelled then yes, I will be asking for a refund. I was wanting to see Laura (as were a lot of people, probably!) I've gotten my Jeremy fix from when I saw him in his first London gig at the Hippodrome, so to be honest I'm not too fussed about him. They billed it, 'reuniting Broadway Stars Jeremy Jordan and Laura Osnes.'
For someone in the theatre community who mourned the loss of Nick Cordero, she sure has a strange stance when it comes to the health and safety of her cast mates and the crew. A real shame and it's selfish, there's no way to defend that. Religion doesn't come into it. There was a segment on people refusing to get the vaccine (deep South) on the BBC news the other night. It's ignorance.
I'm really disappointed. Just hope a solution is found.
This has also backfired because her Disney Princess Party series (I was due to see it last year but...lockdown) is now being co-produced by Disney themselves and they require everyone to be vaccinated.
So...
If she changed her stance and became a bit more educated, maybe I could her in a new light, but alas.
Don't think that will happen any time soon.

While the pairing of Jordan and Osnes is obviously a huge draw to fans of the musical if it did have to be one without the other I’d argue that Jordan is the bigger draw. Therefore if Osnes doesn’t end up performing the concert because of this controversy then I don’t think it would as catastrophic as if Jordan didn’t do it.
So in my little head fantasy I’d love to see Jordan paired with a UK Bonnie, an up-and-coming leading lady who can become a face and a name for any potential future productions.

Presumably these questions were asked at the time of booking her for this though? No? Considering it’s an international production, absolutely. I can’t believe anyone would have been silly enough to arrange everything without asking and I’m pretty sure Laura would have already explained her position (even if not asked) as it impacts flights and hotel requirements etc. Presumably lawyers have been involved in the contracts and arranging insurance, so you’d have thought they’d have been on top of it too. So for me it’s all just a non-story. Not saying Laura is in the right by any means here, but if it was just assumed by the production company that she would be vaccinated when currently for the UK it isn't a requirement, then more fool them for not asking and double checking.

Laura’s response has all but confirmed that she is an anti-vaxxer and doesn’t plan to get vaccinated.

God, I just read her statement and I have multiple issues with it.
1) She states that she is not getting the vaccine because of consultations with her doctor around ‘family planning.’ There has been NO evidence that the vaccine impacts fertility at all and if your doctor says it does then you clearly need a new one.
2) When she says ‘I have been involved in several projects that have successfully navigated production in this time […] Venues and artists have done this without vaccine mandates, through regular testing, social distancing […] quarantines.’ Is this what you want? How long can you do this for? Vaccination eliminates the need for isolation and will mean that Covid protocols will no longer be necessary. Would you rather continue to quarantine regularly? Does she want to have to quarantine if B&C happens in London and pay the extortionate rates for the quarantine hotels? This logic is so bloody stupid and selfish.

Sad to see her perpetuating dangerous falsehoods around fertility. The greatest risk to any future baby is if Laura gets Covid and the baby's mother becomes seriously ill. Still, it's a difficult situation as in the UK people can choose to get the vaccine or not, and I know a couple of people at work who seem to get their information from TikTok mainly who aren't, and despite working in a job where we see vulnerable people daily, we can't force them to get the jab, and unlike Laura has been, we can't sack them.
I wonder more about her future career. She's always trod a difficult line, being a conservative Christian in the New York theatre scene. I'm curious to see if the rest of her views will come under more scrutiny now and if other questions she may have dodged so far get asked explicitly. Will be interesting to see how it pans out. It's a really sad situation, as she is such a wonderful performer and one of the voices of this generation, but I for one don't want to see her get any more influence or prominence if she's going to spout such dangerous nonsense.

It does seem like a massive double standard from the all loving, inclusive theatre community. Accepting all doesn’t seem to extend to an anti-vax right wing zealot. The anti-vax bit seems to have given people the ‘permission’ they are seeking to attack. Medically it is selfish and troubling but morally she is allowed a stance.
