There were some empty seats earlier and mid run but it does seem to have been selling out regularly towards the end. Certainly this week has been sold out.
Generally speaking I don't think it always sold so well in advance but then seats booked up quickly fairly late.
Just my observations having been a few times.

Agreed, I went a couple of weeks ago and when I checked in the morning there were at least 30 seats still available but the theatre was sold out by the evening with people queuing for returns. Just got out of the final show, there were a lot of die hard fans in today. Quite a few mid-show standing ovations from some of the audience (I think mainly from the fans), really loud applause and wooping (again, I think from die hards).
Really good show though, they have tightened up the performances since I saw it earlier in the run (although someone needs to teach Jordan Luke Gage how to hold a cigarette!).
At the end they confirmed that plans are afoot for a UK tour and a cast recording.
I'm really pleased that this has had a life in London and look forward to hopefully seeing it back here.

But me and my other half both felt like the fans were there for the actors. I wonder if this will go the way Heathers has done and be fuelled by a fandom. |

At nearly 47 (four more days) I am skirting very close to 50 anyway, but I've known who Bonnie and Clyde are since my early teens. I would agree they are not as widely known amongst teenagers now, unless they are mentioned in songs or programmes. |

I'm in my 20s and I've always been vaguely aware of Bonnie & Clyde as historical/pop culture figures, at least I know people who would use 'Bonnie & Clyde' as a short hand for a certain sort of relationship. It's the same for people younger than me that I know as well, I watched the mini series that had Holliday Grainger in it a few years back and I have a friend who's a mad fan of Jeremy Jordan which is how I know the show.
I suspect that some of the more younger crowd will have been brought in by the casting but I would definitely assume they know who Bonnie and Clyde are?

If someone isn't happy that their untrue claim of a 'sold out' run wasn't universally believed, maybe they should use something other than 94% sales as proof! Bonnie and Clyde had - deservedly - a very, very good run. Certainly enough to quiet the naysayers who doubted whether it would sell at all beyond the one-off concert. But 94% isn't a sell-out. It's a fantastic level of sales, especially at the moment, but it's 94%.

Can't it just tour small venues? Thinking about the FGW touor that's only seemed to visit the smaller houses, that's what I'd assume Bonnie & Clyde would be doing. It works nicely in a small space, I think something would be lost in a big venue personally.
But anyway, does it matter about sell-out vs 94% capacity? Who is it serving to be this nit-picky? It's done well, it's had a well deserved cult following. No need to jump at the chance to say 'but but it didn't sell x seat on y date'. Who cares, it did well, good for them.

Yes, it did well, we aren't questioning that.
but 94% and 100% are two different numbers, and its disingenuous to say otherwise.
A touring model on the size of FGW would be sensible - I can't see this playing houses bigger than 600 without putting some recognisable names to the public in it.

I'm by no means a fan of the show and was doubtful about the initial run, but eventually it was really nice to see how it went from selling "okay" (with daily availability) to selling out on the day of performance to finally fans fighting over getting tickets to the last shows. It was clearly one of those cases where "word of mouth" spread and in times when there are so many shows struggling to put bums on seats, it's just nice to see a small underdog show developing as it did. I don't think it would sell very well on tour or in a big West End theatre, but doesn't take away from a very successful run and even if it wasn't a "sell-out run" throughout it definitely did a lot better than some shows that claim to be smash hits and are anything but. Let them have this moment! |

I don't think anyone is saying they haven't done brilliantly, and it's absolutely been a hit. But saying it was sold out is just silly. Call it a smash hit, call it a triumph - either are absolutely correct. Everyone involved should be massively proud. There's no need to call it something it isn't - it achieved enough not to need that.

Why doesn’t the arts keep the air con on the whole show? Saw it at the weekend and it seems they switch it off for the majority of the show.

Sometimes in smaller venues the AC can be quite noisy so it's turned off when the performance is on. Not saying that's the reason it happens at this venue.

It just goes to show that what you say on the internet could be read way beyond what your target audience might be. And if anyone thinks this site isn’t being read by the industry… um, think again. And I think our etiquette here goes way beyond what’s allowed on Twitter where they tag the theatre people they’re being vile about so let’s celebrate that eh. |
