Had an email from the Northampton Derngate about this today for Spring 2022, it also has a run of ATG venues and dates between January and May.
I remember a London production got dreadful reviews a few years back but it could be great if done well. Such a good film. Lock up your bunnies 🐇

I have never laughed in a theatre as much as I laughed at this. And there wasn’t a single joke in it.

I feared Kym Marsh's upcoming departure from the role of Alex Forrest might have been the producer's choice, rather than hers, and I braced myself for a shockingly bad performance last night at The Alex in Brum. How wrong was that: she's the best thing about this screen-to-stage adaption, and turns in an impressive shift and a competent American accent (the latter eluding some of the supporting cast). James Dearden, who penned the 1987 cinema version, is also responsible for writing this play, and his changes work well, particularly the new ending. (There is a minor issue that the show feels like it has ended prior to an epilogue, causing the audience to applaud prematurely.) Whereas the Alex played by Glenn Close was an out-and-out psycho-bitch, with horror-movie tendencies to not stay dead when killed, the Alex here is a lot more human and damaged, and what will happen to her as the story develops is less clear. The biggest problem this production faces is that there is probably not a soul in the audience unfamiliar with the film, so there is less pleasure to be gained from various plot revelations. (And, yes, *that* scene is there: kudos to the props team for creating a gorgeous cuddly white rabbit who actually moves in his cage.) I wondered what a newbie would make of it all; it's likely a top-notch thriller for the uninitiated. Oliver Farnworth -- Andy Carver from Corrie, last seen being despatched by Pat Phelan -- convinces as the family man whose head is turned. In this 21st-century version, he garners little sympathy for the consequences of his actions. The sexual frisson between the two leads is palpable. The simple-but-effective set design (with some evocative projections) ensures the pace does not drag. Fatal Attraction won't win any awards for artistic merit, but, on a scale of enjoyment, it's top end. Three stars. Act 1: 19:33-20:31 Act 2: 20:54-21:49 |

I'm guessing the different ending is the same one as how the film was originally supposed to end (which Glenn Close was completely against but eventually backed down), as seen in the extras on the bluray?
