You're correct - Kim Medcalf was the second Sally at the Apollo during the 2006-2008 production, Michelle Ryan did the Savoy Theatre revival in 2012.

What ever happened to Amy Nuttall? She played a housemaid who had an illegitimate baby in Downton Abbey. (And appears, from her Twitter profile picture, to be morphing into Emilia Fox.)

She’s happily married to Andrew Buchan who played Danny Latimer’s dad Mark in Broadchurch and Andrew Parker Bowles in The Crown!

I just remember Anna MM had these odd twists in her hair. Almost like before one put on a wig, but with no wig. She also couldn’t really sing but acted the heck out of it.
Fra Fee and Amy Lennox will be great. I think the challenge is the find stars who are great and have name appeal. But I think the Title will sell it moving forward.

Amy Nuttall had a child but certainly seems to have stepped back from the spotlight in the last few years. I'd think she'd be around 40 now.
I just think £250 a ticket is a joke but if people want to pay it then it is up to them. Eddie's leaving date has been well known and there has never been any assumption on the perceived star level of a replacement cast member. Sometimes the producers will go for a name or have a "name" play a role for a stint to boost the profile of a show lets say Billy Flynn in Chicago for example but most times they go for the best performer for the role they canfind and hope the show sells on that.
"Names" especially the likes of Eddie and Jessie will always only do limited runs as they often have other work lined up but if they can be replaced by solid stage performers who can do the roles as well and for longer then that makes sense too.

Kim Medcalf was the "girl from Eastenders" in the earlier (Maxwell-Martin/Nuttall) West End run, I think. Michelle Ryan was a few years later. Correct! I saw the original Lyric Theatre revival first with Anna MM then Kim Medcalf, then Amy Nuttall. Michelle was in the reconceived version around 2011/12 with Will Young at the Savoy.

Amy Nuttall was in an episode of Death in Paradise a few years back, and, pre-pandemic, was quite frequently cast in productions at the Bolton Octagon - I saw her in The Winter's Tale there and she was excellent.

But like I'm looking on twitter for actual people voicing anger or disappointment at having paid 3 figures for a star name, and I can't find any. A lot of assumptions are going on in this thread about what ticket buyers thought they were doing, but who here spent big bucks expecting celebrities in the roles? I've clearly got a different set of non-stagey friends than anyone else, the ones I know who bought post-change cabaret tickets (2 pairs) did not do it on the basis of thinking they were going to see any stars. I think most theatre goers aren't glued to the twitter accounts of shows or even show news. The Cabaret official account only has under four thousand followers.

If people have paid up to £250 blind hoping for a big name to take over and then to cash in on a resale website such as viagogo, I absolutely have no sympathy.

Friday night in London. My last night in town. The main event of my trip. And Buckley is out. Again. Does she ever perform? Perhaps Benjamin should be considered for the awards?

I guess as Shady quite rightly says- it’s none of anyones business why she’s out.
I just meant that I would not be happy to have missed her. She’s the only reason to see this in my opinion. It’s simply not a good enough production if you take away her performance.

It’s simply not a good enough production if you take away her performance. Having seen Jessie, I'd equally be disappointed not to see her had I booked for a show she was out for. That's completely understandable. I understand both understudy are amazing so my thoughts would be less "why isn't Jessie on" and more "I hope Jessie is ok" as I seriously doubt she is calling out because she has better things to do.

Name calling and the posts which quote name calling have been removed. That's fair. But in balance, how is it fair to allow someone to shame an actor for being off with an undiagnosed illness? Barnaby apologised for his remarks. If we are to be censored for our libel against fellow commentators then surely the same should be for comments made against actors who aren't here to defend themselves.

Look, at these prices, her absences should be addressed. Period. If she’s that ill, say something. If she’s got commitments, put them on the website. Some transparency is all I’d expect. These repeated absences wouldn’t fly on Broadway. I realize it is different on the West End, but I think at this point some openness about it from the producers would be nice for ticket buyers
Emily Benjamin is astonishing. Can’t imagine Jessie is any better, but I’ll never know.
