Once upon a time the casting for this show was good. What happened?

Someone please say this is a joke. Have not minded any 'stunt' (would not call most of them that) casting they've done. because they've been interesting at least. It's why this production has remained intriguing.

I go in for the lottery every day and they keep offering tickets for £55 but they dont tell you what the seats are - has anyone done this - what seats did you get?

In the nicest possible sense, Marisha and Billy will be the cast to finally get the “locals” in and it’s the best thing they could do for this show at the minute.
Billy has massive name recognition, even from his viral red carpet moments. Marisha will attract a musical theatre crowd but also a Celebrity Big Brother ‘hun’ crowd. I think so far, this production of Cabaret has leaned into the avant garde and has been ambiguous to the general public.
This casting would open the show up to a more mainstream audience and if the team are struggling to sell with the new cast, it’s exactly what it needs.

Marisha said on Radio 2 that this was her dream role... However she is in the Palladium Panto... Will the dates work for the next cast change?

Marisha is in panto until January 12. Katherine’s last scheduled day off is January 22 so yes Marisha would have time to wrap the Palladium panto first….

It's odd as Katherine Langford has been in some VERY high-profile projects, and for a long time her face was literally plastered all over Netflix and all it's advertising... but it hasn't really translated into name recognition. Casting young Netflix actors in these parts expecting audiences to coo is wildly misjudged. Some of us don't watch any Netflix series. Visually they are identical - shot on digital, washed out colours, no nuance in lighting. Sex Education/Heartstopper/Rinse and repeat. No one cares. No thanks.

Plenty of other reality shows since Big Brother. And Billy Porter is quite a small name here compared to the US. If anyone would get the 'local crowd' in it would have been Layton Williams who picked up a loyal following on strictly. And Rhea is from the wildly popular Heartstopper, which also has a fiercely loyal following. Regardless of how they were, that was a pairing that appealed to two very different but big demographics in the UK.

And a lot of people do watch Netflix and don't watch the traditional main channels. Plenty of people care. It's not that they are from Netflix thats the problem. It's getting people who are current and /or have a following. The right people. Just having someone off TV isn't enough. If they had put Kit Conner, Joe Locke etc in it would be a very different story.

Up until now this production has had a real prestige about it. Expensive looking advertising (more so than the Kenwright productions, for sure), big names, expensive tickets. It screamed "premium experience".

You only have to see how those two from Heartstopper are currently splattered across social media and print media right now to realise that. (I'm sick of the sight of them, TBH!)

Marisa Abela who played Amy Winehouse in Back To Black would be a great Sally. Good TV pedigree also.

I’ve only ever seen Dress Circle offered but the location varies. I might bite if Stalls came up, but I’m really only entering to try and win the main lottery seats, plus TKTS is usually better value right now (and dynamic pricing on the main ATG site can be too).

I thought it was just me… No, they most definitely have a "house style" - which I never really noticed until they started making shows based in the UK - Afterlife, The Stranger etc. All have this glossy, curated sheen that it SO at odds with how ITV, BBC etc have always designed and produced their dramas. It's very UN-British!

I think much of it has to do with the British weather and them trying to make it look sunnier and brighter here than it is. I really noticed it in Sex Education.

Strong rumours next cast change is Charlie Stemp as MC and Beverley Knight or Claire Sweney as SB.
Either was - brilliant

Going from someone who's 23 (Rhea Norwood) to someone who's 51/53 is a bit wild but I'm intrigued.
