Still processing all of that from when I read it earlier. Fascinated that ATG are happy to sell the Trafalgar. Maybe they know more about the plumbing than they are letting on... but seriously, it's an odd move to lose a flexible house. On the other hand, it isn't the greatest conversion, even after 2 attempts, so... Dunno. If there were a way to keep a "Trafalgar 2" style place and restore the old theatre, that'd be good. Doubt it, though. Keen on Kenwright as a boss, we may see some sensible box office management now. Sotherbys is a lesser known quantity, though again a touch of class could be useful. The Trafalgar Studios were considered problem theatres before, I wonder if Howard and Rosemary will end up creating a new company within ATG since they're not leaving the company entirely, just stepping away from the day and day aspect of running a global company. ATG do get a lot of stick but it is one of the biggest theatre success stories, who'd thought when they bought the Duke of York's all those years ago would lead them to becoming one of the biggest names in theatres alongside ALW and Cameron Mackintosh. I do wonder if ATG under new management will sell off the less profitable theatres like they're doing with the Trafalgar, the Playhouse comes to mind when I think of a theatre that could be sold off.

Would be great if the new management would dispense with premium phone lines even for members and abolish the discriminatory rule about not leaving a single seat empty. Well, I can dream!

The single seat policy has been gone for a while hasn't it? Or just in some theatres? I have managed to buy tickets leaving a single seat in a couple of their theatres now. I know for sure one was the New Wimbledon Theatre, can't remember what the other was any more. A friend of mine did it in Wimbledon too so it wasn't just me.

Wimbledon Welcomes Singles So it's only certain theatres then? That's a shame. Maybe they should make it all so we can be happy.

There should definitely be no restriction of this type at any theatre but as above, I think the dishonourable exceptions are becoming fewer. I have come across it this year but simply didn't book. The Almeida used to be a bugbear as I always wanted a single aisle seat, but since, imho, their programming not only went down the pan but out to sea, I've been spared the need to try to book anything.

They'll need to massively improve the quality of the wine before I go back there.

There's a lot wrong with Trafalgar Studios which has been aired here and in other places for a long time - bar prices, seat comfort and that ghastly access to the auditorium where you have to go right round the back of the auditorium in a corridor if you're on the "wrong" side of the auditorium. Let's hope someone who knows how to run a theatre can sort out the problems with the venue that stop it achieving its potential.
