Anybody else watching?
They're using the theatre in a clever way (back to front). Lovely to see and hear the BBC Concert Orchestra as well as all the West End stars.

Lovely programme apart from the poor choice of host. Putting that aside, that’s the first rendition of You Will Be Found that’s ever given me the slightest interest in seeing DEH. Michael Ball, bless. That performance from Tina was lovely but I don’t think it represented the show well.

Loving it, mostly. I would rather have seen Cassidy and Alexandra Burke sing I know him so well...but it’s showcasing some fabulous talent!

I was thinking the same. So clever filming it that way. Some great performances. A slight sadness though watching it though as I'm missing the theatre so much and this is just a reminder of how wonderful it is.
Ps. Why did they cut Josh Grobin?

Also bravo BBC for showing MT on prime time Sunday night TV.
Did anyone else applaud at the end, or just me?

Kerry Ellis can’t get up there anymore it would appear. However in 10 years she might e hot for the Sunset Boulevard revival?

alece10, I think some were radio only weren't they? On the radio programme we had Elaine Paige singing, and When You Believe as well (maybe some more). I presume it was just because they only had 80 minutes tonight.

Loved it. Such a tonic right now and reminded me why I love being a part of this theatre world.
Sheridan proved that she isn't Sausage on The Masked Singer and the duet with Amanda really wasn't great.
Ramin, effortless and just a god.
Six, fun as always.
Nicole Scherzy, if that was live, she was amazing, even if she was wearing an entire Boots makeup counter on her face.
Nicole Raquel Dennis absolutely slayed AAITY, that tour will be a must-see when it can go ahead.
The new song (to me) from Cinderella was lovely and I enjoyed it far more than the CHF one.
Layton was very good, better actually than he was on tour last year.
Mamma Mia felt like 3 mums doing good karaoke down the Legion, but then I think that about the whole show anyway (even though I adore Mazz Murray)
Jac Yarrow was charming and needs to stop being so handsome, it's distracting. Also most of the British public can't sing.
Tina was very good, I liked the alternative arrangement for the first half.
Lea Salonga effortless as always, she owns IDAD every time.
Michael Ball, god love him. Always a joy to watch and one of the perkiest songs of all time.
Dear Evan Hansen brought tears to my eyes as soon as the first chords started, as it always does. Sam Tutty is a star.
Gavin Spokes, brilliantly characterised and performed.
Kerry Ellis, I still love her and will always adore that belter of a song.
I also spotted Emma Hatton in the ensemble but didn't recognise anyone else.
God bless theatre. I feel so lifted.

I’m only half way through but what a heartwarming show! There’s just nothing like musical theatre. Who could fail to be cheered by You Can’t Stop the Beat?!

Tears in my eyes. A lovely tribute, and while I wish they'd had Idina do Defying Gravity, they had other guests remotely, why not her while she was there, the song choices were perfectly picked.
I now cannot wait to see Dear Evan Hansen, that was the highlight of the show for me.

I haven’t had chance to watch this yet, but they did bill a few of the performances as “radio exclusives” (mainly the people recording from home, I believe).

This was a concert I think we all needed. A real feel good 90 minutes tonight with fantastic vocal performances and the BBC Concert Orchestra doing a wonderful job with the different scores.
As a massive Mamma Mia! fan, loved Maz Murray as Donna which was a big highlight for me, but Lea Salonga's IDAD was just one of those performances that brings a tear to your eye.
OK, the AH and SS duet didn't win me over (I wished that CJ and AB had reprised their Chess roles instead) and having the public sing along with Jac Yarrow although a really lovely idea didn't really work for me and was really distracting from Jac's performance.
Fingers crossed we can get back into a theatre soon and see these fantastic performers live.

They could easily turn this into a series quite quickly
Reduce the orchestra size a bit to help with cost.
But 6 x 1hr shows could be ready by Easter.
Just change the presenter and only use proper singers.

It was a tonic, that was sadly missing its gin, that being an audience but what can you do in these very strange times? It has certainly wetted my appetite for live theatre and hope it is a place I will be back to very soon. However theatre is never represented well on television as it is the actual venue. So looking forward to seeing these shows in the flesh, that I can be sitting in an audience with someone rustling sweet wrappers, people talking, some other jerk with their phone out and me moaning on the ‘Bad Behaviour in a Show’ thread.

Nicole Raquel Dennis was great. I thought she sang it, rather than performed it, but that's understandable on a TV show like it was.
It also showed that she really is wasted in her role in DEH, where her character just annoyed me.

I loved it. I thought Layton Williams was brilliant and felt an unexpected wave of emotion during the DEH section. I knew that I have deeply missed live performance but it suddenly hit me just how much!

Just change the presenter and only use proper singers. I'd really enjoy that, although personally I'd rather have fewer singers if it meant we could keep the full orchestra, and have them play an overture or entr'acte or two. It'll be interesting to see the viewing figures for tonight's.

I don't know whether it was the sound balance or poor diction but I really struggled with Six. I caught about 50% of what they sang. And that is frustrating.

It can’t have been easy singing and moving in such a restrictive position. Theres zero leg room in that royal circle so certainly no room to dance.

I was so happy to see musical theatre in a prime time spot and I can see why they chose Sheridan Smith as the presenter. There was a lot of hit and miss though. I loved seeing Lea Salonga (although I've seen a lot of noise about why she and Nicole Scherzinger were included rather than British theatre talent, didn't bother me); of course Ramin continues to be amazing; I really enjoyed DEH and that is far and away their best song that really works as a standalone.
However. I can think of several hundred people who would have done a better 'I know him so well', I have no idea why Hamilton chose that song, I love Kerry Ellis, but that was so boring. They could have done an amazing Elphaba mashup and they could have finished with a huge ensemble piece.
All in all, very glad it happened but could have been so, so improved.

I've never seen Six live but I have never been able to 'get' the show from their performances. I always feel it's pitchy and I can't understand them. Seems like one you have to be in the theatre for.

I was texting my mum and she said she couldn't watch their bit — she was convinced one of the girls was going to tumble to her death trying to dance there!
