A new UK & Ireland tour of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has been announced.
The tour will start from May 2021, beginning with a 5-week run at the Curve Leicester.
Producers Disney Theatrical have confirmed the original Broadway creative team is set to return, bringing new designs and choreography to the tale as old as time.

Interesting this is headed out to the regions and not straight into London - I had heard a while back that was the plan but I guess 2020 has changed everything.
Glad the original team are on board - I saw the tour in 2006 and loved it so I'll be interested to see what they come up with!

I am so glad this is coming back it was the first musical I ever saw. So to see it again next year is going to be special.

They can include Evermore from the film, that would be nice. I didn't feel the other new songs in the film were particularly up to scratch.

I may be wrong but I have a vague memory that Disney Theatrical own the rights to the stage musicals’ additional songs and as such the film production part of the company wasn’t allowed to use any of them in the live action film... I think that might mean the same applies the other way around. I remember being surprised by this as you’d assume Disney was just one company...? |

Please don’t take out If I Can’t Love Her. Such a stirring end to the first act I swear that if it gets replaced; I won’t go. I hope that they maintain the 19 piece (or even the 14 piece) orchestration (which have a harp and no piano), instead of the dreadful 11 piece arrangement that sounds like piano (the orchestration requires an actual piano) with added instruments. The existing music shouldn’t be touched. It’s a true work of art. Well, maybe they can add Evermore, instead of the Reprise of If I Can’t love her. But that’s it. |

There isn't a single new song or lyric change from the movie that I would like to see added to the stage show.
They all weakened the score. The reworking of Gaston was particularly atrocious.
Evermore is not a patch on IICLH - and was clearly written for someone with limited vocal skills. Beast needs to sing the hell out of IICLH at the end of Act 1 - not do something timid and weak.
BATB as originally conceived for the stage is a big, classic romantic musical - it doesn't need tinkering. It needs a big lavish production with a great yellow dress and a superb Beast mask.
Just do it well and people will love it.

I remember a UK tour down in Plymouth; Katie Rowley Jones was Belle and the transformation scene having a tech issue. (The show must go on) 😂 🥀 ✨ I actually watched the original production at the Dominion and went into the orchestra pit! Was very cool. Yeah. I’m excited for this. (Not seen the Disney live action though)

I think it’s very odd that the original design team are on board with this- why not get a fresh team?

I remember my wife & daughter seeing the tour in Bristol and they had a show stop in the transformation scene too. Was it a regular occurrence? I went with them for the return visit they got for free and remember being impressed with that scene.

I’m really curious about how they “re-design” the show. The Broadway production was always “too much decorations” for me, but it did have a charm like no other. The recent NetWorks tour was, in my opinion, horribly designed; making it way too bright for a story set up in the 1700s in France. The European production (designed by David Gallo and Miguel Ángel Huidor, produced by Stage Entertainment and Disney), was a lot darker and mature. I’d really love (but I find it very improbable) If they went through that route.
Also, let’s hope the orchestra is as “mega” as this tour is said to be. The recent tours only had 11 musicians, and the arrangement sounded like piano with some instruments on top. The harp part is hauntingly beautiful.
