Wasn't expecting a tuesday matinee, but appears from what's announced on DisneyTickets that's the plan.

Bit of a kick in the pants for the guy who stepped up to the mark and led the tour after Emmanuel Kojo was removed but ok... That’s showbiz kid

I was thinking of seeing this when it gets to London primarily because I was interested in seeing Alyn Hawke as the Beast. Now he's being demoted, I very much doubt I'll bother.
Demoted isn’t really the word. He was never officially announced as Beast, he covered the role due to the whole EK saga and did a great job. The fact that the trailer showed no beast said to me that he wasn’t going to have the role permanently. He is still going to be in the show and you may catch him covering Beast Lumiere or Gaston. Meanwhile set designer Stanley A Meyer has confirmed that ‘lots of changes are coming up for the show’ which is good news as the set is the worst part for me. If only one of those changes was a bigger orchestra... But that´s the only thing they won´t change.

I wonder if they will do Disney day seats. They’ve been doing them for every other venue so I’d imagine so. Although they’re now a weekly release instead of daily.

Hoping for the same for the Palladium.

They don’t do them for every venue - depends on the theatre. There were none for Cardiff at the WMC which annoyed me as every other stop has had them and I was hoping to get some for there. Didn’t matter any way after the Cardiff leg was cancelled but still, why do it at some venues and not others!

If he announces in advance any confirmed dates on then I might consider it but I wouldn't want to go on the offchance that he just might be on, given I'm not particularly desparate to see the show itself & I fear the audiences will include a lot of children.

I know he wasn't cast as the "official" Beast etc, but come on, you have to feel for the guy. Imagine getting the opportunity to finally catch your break, thinking that maaaaybe you'll be leading a show at the Palladium and they draft someone else in for whatever reason.
I think you can tell by his tweets that this was not the outcome he was expecting or hoping for but he seems to be taking it very gracefully and with a bit of humour.

Of course I feel for him, I saw him as beast as he was really good, better than the guy originally cast! When you look at the make up of the principles in the cast it’s extremely white. I presume that must have been one of the reasons.

Considering Shaq Taylor (who is an incredible talent with a voice I didn’t quite believe when I first saw him perform a few years ago) is joining from 4th Feb, it looks like they were just waiting for him to be available after Hex’s run ended.
The understudy stepping up for such a long time was admirable but I hope this doesn’t diminish the exciting opportunity for Shaq Taylor. It’s definitely made me more interested in seeing the show.

It looks like Alyn Hawke also covers Lumiere and Gaston so maybe they thought they needed someone in the chorus who could do all three roles, given the situation with absences at the moment?

The aesthetic was clearly to go with a leading couple of colour, which they did at first before EK blotted his copybook. It stands to reason that they would continue with this when given the chance. If it is the case that they have waited for a specific performer to become available then good on them. I’m pretty sure that AH would have been fully aware of the situation throughout, rather than the ‘poor him’ narrative certain areas of the internet are trying to create. Disney Theatrical are not some Mom & Pop venture operating out of someones box room. Knowing that they were heading for the Palladium they will want to get the maximum number of press opportunities that this ‘groundbreaking’ 🙄 casting will create. It is 2022; it shouldn’t be any sort of big deal, but sadly it will be painted as such for ‘London Tonight’ or the sodding ‘One Show’.

Someone, somewhere will be offended by this and the mods will be along shortly to "sanitise" any wrongthink. But you're absolutely right in every sense.

I wonder if they’ll expand the show as the tech elements didn’t receive the best reviews? The Palladium always presents shows with a reputation for being very show-off-y… especially if they’ll he charging more to see this than the prices for when it was on tour.

I watched the original show at the Dominion and got to go into the orchestra pit! Have seen UK Productions tour of it but wasn't blown away. Will be good to revisit in any case.

It's significant because it was ST's first performance in the role so will be a chance to see him in action? Like it was Keala Settle's first time as Angelique in & Juliet...

But it wasn't him performing in the role. The Beast does not duet with Belle on the title song. Indeed he barely sings at all outside of the end of Act 1 ballad.
So fine if he sang If I can't love her.
But otherwise it is just marketing/presentation
