So glad to see live theatre again. A play about love and anger, and how these frustrate ambition. Michael Dunbar acts in his own play, playing Henry McGill, a boxer on the make whose career is stalling due to personal issues. Together with his trainer Billy Boy (produce Thomas Winter) they work the gym and dream of riches whilst Henry's anger endangers his relationship with Jess (Hayley Mitchell) and new friend Karolina (Arieta Visoka). An interesting play which despite the simplicity of the setting and the awkwardness of the venue, the Bread and Roses Theatre's stage is not the easiest, grabs your interest in the well-drawn characters and their conflicts. On until Saturday night, two performances a night, but tickets do need to be purchased in advance. They can be bought from the theatre's website: www.breadandrosestheatre.co.ukHere's your chance to show your support for live theatre, these guys are braving the situation and the conditions, they deserve to be given a break. All done in a corona-friendly manner for the nervous amongst us, with one-way systems and strict social distancing.
