There was a flurry when they arrived as they were totally incapable of following a letter then a number to find a seat and then they had Champagne delivered when they eventually got to the right place. Then at roughly 20 minute intervals another one left and didn't come back, without seemingly saying anything to the others. So the group went 4,3,2,1,0.... So bizarre! I do wonder what goes through people's heads. I assumed they were hammered and didn't know where they were or even who they were lol. |

Saw this last night and I'm so glad I caught it before it ended its run. I'd seen the second run of the RPOAT production and was absolutely blown away by it, and whilst this - understandably - doesn't quite stand up to that fully staged version, what they've accomplished is astounding.
I actually really like that it's one act as it helps the thrust of the piece, and the new stark staging worked well for the most part. Highlight performers were definitely Declan and Tyrone for me (although Tyrone has definitely upped the riffing since I last saw it which broke a few of the more tender moments). Sure there are some moments which don't have the same effect as when they were fully staged (e.g. Herod's song) but overall it was just wonderful to be watching a live performance of this calibre again. I didn't think it would hit me as much as it did, but the passion and joy of all those on stage getting to perform during these awful times was palpable and there's a real sense of support from the slim audience.

So my updated prediction is:
Sat 26th (e) - Declan/Tyrone/Maimuna
Sun 27th (m) - Pepe/Ricardo/Maimuna
Sun 27th (e) - Declan/Tyrone/Anoushka
Or they could swap casts for m/e. But I have a feeling they're going to stick with the original trios and not mix them up. If anyone has any info on the final show's cast please let us know.

Don’t like this rain! Anyone know if the theatre is obligated by the curfew? Wondering what might happen if there’s a rain stop and the show hasn’t finished by 10pm.
(Well, the answer is a riot, started by me, if they try and stop it.)
