Wore a mask for over 2hrs at the National Gallery last week and did not really notice it, after a while you just forget about it.

Wore a mask for over 2hrs at the National Gallery last week and did not really notice it, after a while you just forget about it. Good for you. I struggle to keep it on for 30 min on the train and don't even want to think how it's like for 2h.

Was worried about the discomfort of a mask through two hours in the airport and two on the plane, but it really wasn't that bad; a light cloth mask that isn't tight fulfils the requirement while not being too noticeable. It's over the top for outdoors socially distanced theatre, but I understand that there are a lot of nervous nellies out there that they need to reassure.

No queues now and plenty of availability, which is a surprise. I'd rather hoped this would sell out to give other productions confidence to reopen.

Really looking forward to this! I loved it at the Barbican and was sad I could only go once. It will be my first visit to the Open Air Theatre too.

I think the information hub has been updated since I last looked.
The reason there are so few single seats is because, "Knowledge of prior booking history...shows the majority of bookers will require at least two seats." Well obviously!
"We expect the production to have a cast of 22 and a band of 11."
"Unfortunately, for performance licensing and copyright reasons, we are unable to broadcast, stream or record the performance."
And just a reminder that current ticket prices are only guaranteed until 10 August.

God, yeah, not a lot for people by themselves! Bit rubbish, hopefully as others have said more will be released as we get into August and things continue to relax. Not particular thrilled by the ticket I've bought compared to what I'e paid for it, but that was ever the case with this theatre. It's quite nice to get back to the old normal of shouting "are you fecking kidding me??" at my laptop when buying tickets! Can't wait to start complaining about audience behaviour again. I’ve already started complaining about audience behaviour while reading all the people grumbling on here about wearing a mask.

Nice and easy to sort out one of the single £25 grass bank tickets for mid Sept. It’s just nice to actually book something and get back into a theatre. 1st time at the OAT as well. September can’t come soon enough.

Whilst I completely get their reasoning, and obviously the booking system can’t tell them this, it doesn’t really consider that people who previously booked at least 2 seats might have been attending with people from other households (I’m certainly one of those people)

100 in the queue and a 5 minute wait just now. I didn’t purchase. Can’t risk another trip to Regents Park and a rained off show without there being something else to save the weekend.
A paper mask is going to be fine for this surely. You’re never going to catch ‘owt anyway. Not with all that space.

I got myself one of those £25 grass bank seats this afternoon and I’m really looking forward to it. Over here mask are mandatory in many places and I have to wear one at work for extended periods of time so I’m kind of used to it.
The website states something about cancellations because of weather conditions. Will they do the concert in the rain and cancel for thunderstorms etc? Or is rain already a no go? I hope everything works out. I really need to watch some theatre again!
Edit: I just found the weather page. As they are recommending rain coats, I guess rain will be ok. ^^

Are they requesting the audience to wear masks during the performance?

Are they requesting the audience to wear masks during the performance? Requiring, rather than requesting. Mandatory is the word they use.

Will they do the concert in the rain and cancel for thunderstorms etc? As it's a concert rather than a staged performance, I imagine they will keep going in most conditions. Are they requesting the audience to wear masks during the performance? Yes, wearing a mask is a condition of entry.

Really pleased to have gotten a grass verge ticket for a matinee in September - only me and only had £25 really to spend on this.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the production last time round, but it's strong material. Here's hoping they get some good people to smash out that score!

Ah well looks like I'll be giving it a miss. Very poor selection of single seats, mostly with handrail warnings.

Very poor selection of single seats, mostly with handrail warnings. Agreed, but you shouldn't have anyone in the seat next to you, if you want to stretch the other way.

Gutted as really want to see this again.

Anybody noticed the reference to set design:
"Tom Scutt (set design) after the set design for EVITA by Soutra Gilmour"
I'm guessing they're repurposing the steps from Evita for JCS...

Btw, can folk stop whining about wearing masks? If you don't like it, don't go. Simple!
It's the world we live in right now. I'd happily wear a mask to theatres for eternity if it got them all open again.

No one is living their best life at the moment. Also discussing the effects of mandatory mask wearing on attendance levels seems extremely on topic for this thread. You are free to ignore or disagree, just as they are free to express how they feel.

You are free to ignore or disagree, just as they are free to express how they feel. I struggle wearing a mask and am extremely glad I managed to get a ticket for Beverley Knight tomorrow - so much happier to find out if I can cope with it for the length of a performance or not if it's free! I'm hoping that my usual complete immersion will take over and help overcome the panic that the claustrophobia brings. If it does great, if not then theatre will be really difficult for me for quite some time unless wearing a visor would work in a theatre space without causing a problem for other audience members. It's totally fair for people to ask and decide they won't go - better that than go and then cause a problem at the performance - the only thing that would annoy me would be someone asking and then saying they'll go and just take the ask off once the performance starts!
