Concert performances outside near the Turbine Theatre, running from 4 to 6 September. All star cast, directed by Arlene Phillips. Front tickets are £144 for 4 people. Rear tickets are £80 for 2 people. No single person discounts. There is a language warning, but no nudity warning so I expect the cast are remaining clothed (it may be chilly outside). I've booked as it is one of my favourites. Would have booked more than once if the tickets weren't so expensive for us singletons. Could only bring myself to go for the £80 ticket. Looks like Blake Patrick Anderson has been added to the cast as Woof (just sharing for all the BPA fans).
They're looking at allowing more people to see this. As they can't add any more capacity (unless they're planning to park some boats by the jetty) or run any more dates, I presume this means streaming of some kind.

I managed to get tickets for this at the last minute as I’m down in London for a few days but I have no idea how to get there and it’s not looking like the easiest location to get to when I google. Can anyone give me an idea of the best way to get there from the Strand please?

You could get the District Line from Embankment to SS. |

Just back from this.
Nice show well staged.
Shame the production team seemed to have no knowledge they were meant to be covid safe! Director hugging people, asking people to merge there social bubbles. Apparently it was OK as the people he was telling to sit next to. them were nice people!
Put me off booking to see anything else there.
Upsetting as had been looking forward to this since booking.

Very much enjoyed this short concert performance. It doesn’t compare to the tour, but the leads worked well together and were off-script.
It is on a wharf near the theatre. You need to go to a booth, give your name, get your temperature checked and wear a wristband. The wharf is open to the elements. Fantastic view down the river, but it was windy (no rain).
My deckchair was comfortable enough. One downside, there’s no tiering and they staged some parts of the concert with the cast seated or laying down, so impossible to see.
There’s a small stage but a large screen behind which is used well. The opening and several other parts were very similar to Hair 50. Otherwise, this is heavily cut, particularly dialogue, running only 1 hour 10 (no interval). Sound quality is good. The main cuts were in Act 2. The hallucination scene seemed short and Hippie Life was cut. There are recorded gunshots (no trigger warning was given).
The worst thing about this? The lack of Covid-19 awareness and compliance at the venue. Hardly anyone wearing face masks. I saw a group of six friends meeting up and hugging, who I presume weren’t in a bubble. Then, just before the show, they brought a load of people in to share seats with others. Luckily I had my bag on the extra seat I’d had to buy next to me, otherwise I’m sure they’d have tried to fill that too.
Overall then. Great music, some excellent vocalists and a (masks excluded) well-behaved crowd. I also got to hear a well-known theatre review talking about how he was adding one to all his star ratings during Covid-19. But if theatre companies have so little respect for the law, it will be a long and rocky road before we get back to normal.

The lack of health measures sounds appalling. So far I've visited Regent's Park OAT, The Bridge and The Donmar and they've all managed to be COVID-19 safe, I don't understand why the Turbine couldn't. Paul-Taylor Mills should do something asap.

Fairly certain it was him that was filling the gaps and making people share the seating bubbles with his friends. Glad we only had a set of 2 deckchairs, as I wouldn't have been polite about asked to share a bubble. In his view they were 'nice people' not sure how that made them unable to get covid! Glad to hear other venues actually understand the the rules. |

I went to see this last night & really enjoyed myself. I did ask at the box office if i had to wear my mask, they advised it was down to me as we were outside with the seats social distance rule.
The stage was really cleverly placed between the cast & it was nice to just hear some live music/theatre again

Inside a tent, so protected from the elements.
No single seats, unfortunately, although the box office do say to ring them and they will see what they can do. But they don't open the box office until 1pm and I don't know what will be left by then.
A shame, as I would like to go, but nearly all the groups are 4s, which of course is what you'd expect from everyone attending in their bubbles.

I would go, but they clearly detest the idea of offering even a half decent seat for anyone going on their own. I did see a couple of aisle singles towards the back of the stalls, but nothing towards the front. They might re-configure if some of the bigger groups don't sell. They did that for Songs for a New World and I managed to get a good stalls seat when they did it. |
