Yes, the Hollywood creative forces really are that bereft of new ideas. Jennifer Grey is reprising her role as Baby as well as producing.
I adore Dirty Dancing, it is one of my favourite films. But this? The plot would either have Baby divorced from or grieving for Johnny and I have no interest in seeing either of those storylines play out!

For contractual reasons, the reanimated corpses of Patrick Swayze and Jerry Orbach have declined to participate.
There will, however, be a guest appearance from Jennifer Grey's original nose.

I would assume the sequel would be set in the 1980s or 1990s. 2022 is the 35th anniversary so I expect it'll be released by then
