Making something out of nothing and turning my words into something that is not true nor said.
Well that's the last nail in the coffin and has finally pushed me out of the forum.

Listening to the highlights soundtrack, and the Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats is thrilling and the arrival of Deuteronomy is lovely but oh some of the others such as Rebel Wilson's song is pretty grimly performed.

Just back from seeing this. Went with an open mind, sadly it’s the worst film I’ve ever seen. The only redeeming feature for me is that “Victoria “ the white cat was good. Everything else 👎
I loved the musical, but this film gets a 👎 from me

I've just watched the 1998 DVD, and rather love it. The post production team are a bit trigger happy with new digital effects, but at least we get to see the dancing and the costumes. Was the car always TSE !? I seem to remember the original being NAP 1 for John napier. Oh what a cast - I love Susan Jane Tanner as Jellylorum - the scene with John mills and her is beautiful. A good few names in that cast, and oh it looks so good, and is clearly directed. And Elaine popping up a few times as another cat. Do watch this and remember how wonderful the dancing was, and the make up and that set, so full of detail.

Would we be surprised to see a new, revitalised tour go out next year? You may be getting what you wish for. BB Promotion here in Germany just announced a big new tour for late 2020 in English. They are owned by ATG now and last time Cats was here (though briefly only) it was the UK Tour coming over. So I wouldn't be surprised if this was another co-production to tour the UK as well as the German-speaking countries. Otherwise I wouldn't know why they'd do it in English. |

There has been too much sniping recently and people taking offence to innocent comments that others are making. Yes this board is for discussion and difference of opinions but not to the point that others are feeling bad and leaving the board. It’s hardly a pleasant environment then is it. |

can we move on from the catfight (duets by Rossini) and get back to talking about the movie. For all its' pros and cons, and there are plenty of both, it's lovely being reacquainted with the witty poems. 'And can you, as cats can, begin with a C?' is such a brilliant lyric, working on many levels.

I love Cats; I've seen the stage musical 3 times and I have seen the 1998 film countless of times. There were a couple of years I watched it every night (not completely, but an hour or so). It is one of my favourite musicals ever. I am curious about the film, but don't have an opportunity to go soon. Maybe in a few weeks, if it's still in cinemas then... I have very mixed feelings based on the trailer and the reviews, and I don't really want it to ruin the perfection of the stage production... |

But the original production without any movie influence (regardless of whether or not I end up liking the film) would be more than good enough for me!  |

Just on my way home from a sold out Sunday afternoon performance.
Is it right that if Deuteronomy had a ring it is the old print or is there more to it than that? Has anyone seen the new print and noticed any other differences?
I’m tempted to get in one more before it disappears from the big screen and would like it to be the updated one.

There is currently (7.00pm Sunday 28 Dec) a very interesting programme on Radio 2 about the original Cats production.
"First Cast. A two hour documentary "Big names and big songs combine in this revealing re-union. Presented by Ben Thompson, stars and creative driving forces of the original production of Cats share their memories".
Well worth a listen when it be available on iPlayer (or BBC sounds or whatever they call it now).
Next Sunday has Matt Lucas hosting a special recording of Les Miserables in concert. I hope this is a sign of more musicals themed programmes in the future.

I find it quite incredible that people are still attending sold out screenings of Cats. Worldwide box office for its 1st 2 weekends has only just reached what the thought they would take in USA opening weekend alone so this isn’t going to be some Greatest Showman sleeper, it’s a bona fire flop and yet there are sold out screenings (or near so) in UK
Can I ask people that have attended these do you know the reason in local area?? (Eg only one cinema, etc)
