Argh I'm so torn because I really like Lee Mack and would quite like to see this, but I really don't agree with Frances Barber's views.

I already went in its last run as I'm a fan of Reece Shersmith and didn't know who Frances Barber was. It's just not a good play and hiring someone like that again for another run is vile. Good thing is she doesn't have to act as she is essentially playing herself. |

The few parts of this I enjoyed when I saw it in Chichester were entirely down to Reece Shearsmith.

I think the majority of the audience will be expecting a 'Going out' style performance from Lee Mack. |

With the greatest of respect, Lee Mack is nowhere near the comic actor Reece Shearsmith is. Farce like this needs a very specific concentrated energy and intensity, which Reece did perfectly.

Mack was good in The Miser at the Garrick in 2017, so he may be able to pull this off. I agree it needs more than just his Not Going Out performance. |

I hadn't seen this first time round as I was appalled by the prices - bearing in mind I knew nothing about the play.
But got in today for £35 at the back of the stall which is a very reasonable price.
Good comedy, very funny in parts, and I can see why it's been so successful, although it feels strangely old-fashioned in a way. Great performance by Frances Barber. Chapeau.

Saw this on a TodayTix ticket, I don't usually do plays but I really enjoyed this, both because of the story and the actors (which kind of hooked me in)
Agree that Frances Barber is brilliant, as was Nick Sampson as the neighbour.
