Yawn. They put out a thing during the run of WSS asking what people wanted to see - evidently enough people didn't say A Chorus Line! (which has been Nikolai's want for a while I think...)

There's an Easter Panto version of WOO doing the rounds too with Kerry Katona as the Wicked Witch and Basil Brush as... well, I'm not sure who as but it sounds like a hoot.

They don't just decide what to put on a few months before announcing it. Nikolai was on the radio the other day saying they were finalising and getting the rights for their 2024 shows a few weeks ago so i personally don't believe that they just decided what to put on this year by a survey a couple of months ago. They would never do a A Chorus Line for their Christmas production. It's their biggest production and money spinner of the year, it's going to be a well known popular title that is going to bring everyone through the doors. If they do a show like that then it's going to be a short run in the summer, like The Color Purple and like Roman Holiday this year and their plays. |

They could so A Chorus Line next year during the summer for a few weeks. If you look at their Xmas shows for the last 5 or 6 years....The Sound Of Music, Oliver, Scrooge. Grease, White Christmas, West Side Story and now The Wizard Of Oz.....i think it highlights the sort of shows they are going for when it comes to their main Xmas production. Of course though, they are running out of these big blockbuster shows so maybe they will get more adventurous in the future, who knows. |

I'll admit, I've not enjoyed a lot of the Curve productions I've seen but I would love a new creative team to get make this work on stage. The Lloyd Webber production was a massive disappointment, so devoid of the imagination, heart and (ironically) the theatricality the movie had. They had a stage as big as the London Palladium and the best they could come up with for the Tornado was a projection on a scrim?

It is a safe choice but get me an awesome Wicked Witch Of The West and a fabulous Dorothy and I'd probably give in and go! I've seen a lot of stuff at Curve and can honestly say I've never been disappointed.
Also, on the survey, my vote went to Bombay Dreams. I think they'd smash it.

Birmingham reps production couple of years ago was excellent anyone else see it ?? had Lorna laidlaw who’s now in Corrie as the wizard and played other part like in the film only the second time I ever really enjoyed a stage version of Oz was fresh and really whizzed along . first was also the 1988 rep production with sue devany as dorothy was fab

It's really the regional premiere of the ALW version? I never realised it hadn't been done before.
The jury is out on the artwork btw, i used to love all the Curve artwork but recently i've not loved a lot of it. I dunno if the team have changed or what.

Perhaps if it was 3 more after Phantom, maybe they've been in talks so that if Cinderella ever tours, then it opens at Curve? As previously they've had Sunset which Curve created, doubt it'll be Starlight, so just trying to think what else it might be?  |

Liam Steel did an excellent job in making it feel fresh and not just a carbon copy of the film. Shame that one hasn't returned since. |

If anyone is interested, top priced tickets during Previews come in at £24.00, with the cheapest being £10.00. Where as after previews top price usual £45 for top price, looks a bit cheaper during the week, with 7pm starts on the weekday matinee days, which is Thursdays |

The previews end on Wednesday 2 December. Presumably that means press night is Thursday 3 December evening performance, yet the matinee on that date isn't a preview and full price. Disappointing.

^Yes,the Rep’s version was totally re-imagined as an urban fantasy...it featured Shanay Holmes who could be a really big star in the future...saw her in High Fidelity last year,in a Whitney celebration and more.She recently re-posted on Mean Girls casting and that show would be a real career-maker for her...can see some of the SIX alumni getting the nod in that show as well.
