Thanks so much for this! I’ve tried using the link but for some reason none of the payment options will work for me. Is this happening for anyone else, or is it just my phone! Thanks! :-)

Still no joy, thinking I may have to pop by the tkts booth at this rate and hope they are selling them!

Well that was frustrating. The TKTS website wasn’t working for me, and there was no response when I tweeted to the official account about it, so I thought I’d go to the booth to get my ticket. I arrived at 12:45 with plenty of time to buy a ticket and get to Cadogan Hall, only to find that they had taken the matinee off sale at 12:30 (1hr before curtain up - I’m sure TKTS never used to stop sales so far ahead!). I can’t make the evening and I can’t afford to pay full price at the theatre so I’ve headed home! Will look forward to reading reports from others.

Enjoy, everyone who's there! I'm very grumpy that I'm not - I was planning to be if I could get a deal, then I caught flipping covid last week (I'm fine, way past the worst of it now and just tired)

I'm in my front row seat and very excited that this is happening at last. I've only seen an amateur production of Children of Eden, which was excellent, and from my experience no venue does these Sunday musical theatre concerts better than Cadogan Hall. Orchestra getting ready and auditorium steadily filling though when I looked earlier the two seats next to mine were back on sale.

This was incredible this afternoon - such an epic score! Everyone was on top form, Emma Kingston blew the roof off in Act 2 and seeing Stephen Schwartz play & original cast member Ray Shell sing in an encore was tremendous! The fantastic Theo Jamieson was conducting as Tom Dwering was unwell.
First time at Cadogan Hall and my (cheap) gallery seats meant I couldn't see the singers stage right, who happened to be Rob Houchen, Ruthie Henshall, Emma Kingston and Leslie Garcia Bowman for act one. Spoke to a lovely usher who allowed me to swap sides to a slightly more central side seat for act two.
Now having an horrendous Southern Rail journey home but it was worth it!

I'm not sure which company it was but I saw it in 2019 at the Winston Churchill theatre in Ruislip. Incidentally if anyone reads this in the current interval and is sitting further back front row stalls seats AA16 and AA17 are unoccupied.

Well I left Cadogan Hall a very happy boy tonight. Emma Kingston is out of this world. She came to slay tonight and took no prisoners. Completely killed her part and I hope theatre producers make more use of her going forwards. She deserves to be seen as one of our top leading ladies.

Children of Eden is quite the show; Sorcery/witchcraft, incest, murder, genocide, forced marriages and lots of great tunes.
I saw the OLC and the concert 10 years ago and i think the show has a great score. Tonight confirmed that. The orchestra were wonderful, lots of great percussion bringing out all the elements of the original orchestrations and a cast that delivered the songs beautifully. Adam Pearce with his deep, warm voice reminded me of Ken Page from the original production. Carl Spencer as Adam/Noah was new to me, but someone I'll look out for in future productions. His tone was gorgeous. Emma Kingston belted up a storm and Rob Houchen showed that he's going to be a big leading man in the near future. I also really enjoed Shan Ako. Having seen her in Les Miz previously, i was pleasently surprisd by how good she sounds, when singing the score as written without the need to riff every few lines.
The sound coming from everyone on stage, including the GSA chorus and child chorus was really quite moving, especially in the final number, In The Beginning. It also made me wonder what Titanic would sound like there, big orchestra, big chorus, I'd pay big bucks to see that.
I'm not sure Children of Eden could sell a long run production, but to hear it again in concert form was perfect. Maybe I'll be there for the 40th Anniversary. I almost forgot to add that Ray Shell was still sounding as good as he did 30 years ago in the Encore of Generations. Was surprised that Stephen Schwartz didnt want to say a few words at the end. Still it was great to have him there.
I've never been to Cadogan Hall before. Great venue, wonderful sound, comfy seats and staff that seemed happy to be there. Here's Ray Shell (in a shell suit) with the OLC singing Generations

Emma Kingston's 'Ain't it Good' last night was one of those times when I wish every show was recorded. That was just out of this world. After the disappointment of Alice Fearn being unable to perform, Emma's performance turned out to be one of the high spots of the evening. I also loved Ray Shell encouraging everyone to do the 'all the way back to the protozoa' line in his song, and as I didn't know he was going to be there that was a nice surprise.
Other than Cain and Abel, I wasn't sure why the children were there, as I couldn't hear them, but it must have been where I was sitting since other people have mentioned hearing them okay! I also found the choir a bit muffled so I'll maybe pick another seat next time. Overall though it was just great to hear this music live.
Mostly loved this, still not a Shan Ako fan but she was way better in this than in Les Miserables.

Agree, Emma Kingston was incredible and the stand-out of the concert.
Would it have killed them to put a slip in the programme with her name/bio to alert people that she was Eve/Mama Noah?
Sound was fine in the corner at the front, but I found the children rather pointless too.

There was 1 thing about the concert last night, that was pointless, annoying and self indulgent.
Matt Lucas.

I'd actually completely forgotten about him! So had I When I wrote my thoughts on the show, but then sometime later he popped into my head. I don't understand what the point was really. He told lame jokes and introduced the show, but not with any real excitement. Now, anyone know where I can get a copy of the OCR that won’t break the bank? You might want to try Footlight Records. Footlight have been around for years though they are now only online. It's owner has produced so many cast recordings over the years and he has special permission from Stephen Schwartz to produce CDR's of the OLCR. More information here and within the sites FAQ. footlight.com/product/children-of-eden-steven-schwartz-rare-london-cast-cdr-1980/
