They've closed off the Grand Circle so basically anyone who couldn't afford higher prices doesn't get to go sadly.

That's what I've been told is happening, think it's the easiest way for them according to the friend who emailed me about all the hassle. Fingers crossed they're wrong and you still get to go

I've also just been booted out. (Single seat grand circle 12th December matinee). I then realised I hadn't had a rebooking for my cancelled performance of "Everyone is talking about Jamie" so phoned Nimax and am going to attend the reopening of that instead.
Now I just need to avoid picking up a cough or a temperature before then!

As it happens I was asking for a refund anyway.
But the elitism is shocking. They could at least have done some kind of raffle system.

I bet a lot of people who are losing out are the ones who booked swiftly and snapped up the cheaper seats. I’ve already rebooked les mis and made my peace there but this one still hurts. |

I would have thought the whole idea of having the 50% capacity was that it was evenly spread to get the most benefit out of the spacing! What do I know?!!

Well there's no way I'm going. They're getting none of my money for the contempt they've shown anyone who can't afford more expensive seats.
At the very least an equal amount of lower and higher priced tickets should have been cancelled.

I went to my first panto since I was a child (a very long time ago) and my first panto at the Palladium last night.
And oh what a great night out, just what I needed.
I am not going to give too much away so as not to spoil it for those of you who are due to see it.
However this year there is no actual panto, its a kind of "best of".
Production values were amazing considering its only a 3 week run with wonderful costumes, sets and effects.
Great cast but it really is the Julian Clarey show.
The man had the audience in the palm of his hand from beginning to end, and his costumes, well!
I honestly don't think I have laughed so much in years and there is one number "The twelve days of Christmas" when I was actually crying with laughter.
Cheered me up no end.
2nd visit to the Palladium since reopening and I think they organized it very well. The stalls are great now as they have taken rows of seats out so there is so much more legroom.
It was a bit of a free for all inside the theatre itself but the staff made sure everyone kept their masks on and had all the exits open at the end.
One difference I noted from when I went to see Songs for a New World is that they were serving drinks at your seat. So had staff walking around taking orders and paying on card readers then bring the drinks to you in bags. But last night they didn't do any of that and you went to the bar to buy your drinks. Just wondered why they changed the system as the other way worked very well.

Confirmed by the programme and the cast on stage that there will be another panto at the Palladium in 2021/22, with Qdos Entertainment.

I saw it yesterday and laughed like a drain throughout, was excellent! Cast, orchestra, costumes, all FOH staff brilliant and it was such a joy to be back in a theatre.

I do wish that people using Twitter would wait until official announcements and give the staff, performers, backstage and FOH, a chance to be told in a better way. We all love the gossip and scoops on new shows etc but a bit of sensitivity before tweeting would be kind in these times

Email received for Boxing Day tickets...refund already being offered. Whole run cancelled. So glad I didn’t really hubby and teenager that we were going..ignorance is bliss...so p’ed off!
Can’t fault that customer service though.

Until things were officially announced they couldn't do anything. Now they have and have already emailed patrons asking for refund details. Theatres will have to wait for the official announcement before emailing the public - plus I would hope they have spent the time contacting all the staff involved first and foremost. Still not ideal (although how performers missed the rumours over the last few days about potential Tier 3 amazes me), but again, their employers couldn't really have sent out a "you might be unemployed in two days time. But you might not be. Tune in to BBC News to find out" email! |

Given that the Palladium panto isn't that traditional/christmassy, I wish they had considered delaying it until early in the new year, instead of cancelling immediately. I understand that the cast might have other bookings lined up, venue not available etc, but I suspect the majority of ticket holders would still want to go.
