Just went in, no queue, booked and out again within 5 mins.
The tickets we had last year were £10 cheaper this year, but because it's just Mum and I, went for a little upgrade.

I've a hunch that the presence of a pop star will make seats in the front row much more difficult to get. I'm going to leave it if I can't get the seats I want. I've learnt from shows like Frozen and Singin' In The Rain that it can pay to wait till nearer the time to book. I've just managed to book front row for the matinee on the 21st! They're definitely out there and this isn't selling out anywhere near as quick as I thought it might! In fairness though you posted that 30 minutes into "priority booking" when there were still queues restricting the number of people able to book. It won't sell out overnight, shows never do these days, but by the time performances roll around there won't be empty seats.

Indeed I did, but I was only looking for two out of just six specific seats in stalls row A, which I have managed to secure for every Palladium pantomime so far. This year, while I did get them, we're seeing a weekday matinee rather than an evening or Sunday performance which I would have preferred. Suspect we will be surrounded by Donny-diehards.
Bonnie and Clyde did sell out both shows within a couple of days so it can still happen.

Interesting. In the palladium case I suspect the title (or lack of) and the cast aren't working in its favour either. If you've been previous years and aren't a particular donny osmond fan there isn't a lot to draw you out. Plus it's the middle of winter during a flu pandemic and I think more and more people are thinking this winter is going to be key as to whether the worst is really behind us.

I feel like travel would put me off a peak Christmas performance as trains can be a nightmare, not such an issue for local pantos I guess. I do remember it being hit and miss before and some years I’ve got great dynamically priced seats but others look sold out early on. I’m booked for what looks like press night and can’t wait!

I doubt it. It really, really does need a cast shake up though, it is getting very stale. I'm only going this year because I want to support it after the last eighteen months, if it's the same cast for 2022 (unless the guest star was a huge name) I would think twice before getting tickets.

It doesn't seem fair to compare sales from previous years given those previous years were pre pandemic.

The Stage is being a bit of a Cassandra with their opinion piece, sales being down during a pandemic does not mean that theatres or pantomimes are doomed or will cease to exist.

Why book far in advance? There's certainly no reward for it and there's plenty of discounts always end up being thrown about if you're flexible. Family of 4 in stalls seats costing £360. As others have said, unless you're already a diehard Donny Osmond fan, he isn't really a draw.

I've been looking at touring shows over the next 3 months and some have fewer than 10% sold seats even in September. Only yesterday I received an offer for free seats at a musical tour currently near London, not even a booking fee, but I was (having the time of my life!) at Frozen. The industry clearly has a huge uphill struggle to return to profitability. The whole yes/no mask wearing thing and COVID checks seems to be more of a deterrent outside of London, though The Marlowe at Canterbury - local to me - is bucking the trend so far with several near sellouts. Pantoland was put together at fairly short notice last year and cancelled after a few performances so I think it was the right decision to stage it again However, sales were also slow in 2020 and as I understand it the material is mostly not new. A named pantomime probably has more appeal even though the title makes very little difference to what they do on stage. I'm sure publicity will build up a buzz and boost sales so I expect to see a lot of Donny on The One Show, Good/This Morning etc when we get into November.

Theatre will mostly recover in 2022 I suspect. Shows are capable of selling out atm and if the autumn remains fairly restriction free Panto sales will increase as the season goes on.
I don’t think Boxing Day is prime day for this panto due to public transport being weaker on Boxing Day. Particularly with this year being a Sunday.

For those who haven't booked their tickets for this year's Palladium Panto, there's currently a glitch with the LW Theatres website that means you can get the best seats in the house for £25.33.
Just select the seat and it comes up with two options - full price and a new discount. It seems to work for most performances.

Not strictly Palladium panto but I couldn't find a suitable general thead. Just had an e mail from Stratford East Theatre saying tickets are on sale for 2022 Panto. Good lord! We haven't had 2021 Panto yet.

Lots of theatres have their next panto on sale during the run of their current one. Ours is on sale in January before we finish the run. You'd be surprised how many people come out and want to immediately book the same date and seats for next year.

Its a bit like booking next year's summer holiday as soon as you get back from the current one (remember those days?) But the 2021 panto hasn't even started.

Are there any good offers out there yet? Seem to be a lot of seats left this year.

Apparently the Daily Mail are giving away tickets when you collect coupons. Yes you have to be part of their mymail scheme and also be a nectar card holder. You need to buy the mail on the next 7 days entering the unique number on the back into their mymail site. You then have the chance for 4 free panto tickets of which the Palladium is one.

In previous years I’ve managed to get decent stalls seats through dynamic pricing on the day so worth holding out if you aren’t fussed on when to see it.
