Well I have succumbed and booked tickets for September, I hope this happens, the stream was incredible and cannot wait to experience it up close!

Well this is fantastic news. The stream was my highlight of 2020, along with the Sunset stream and JCS open air.
Am up in Manchester for the Pride weekend so booked a ticket for then :-)

I’ve booked tickets for this in August. Really hopeful that with how good the UK’s vaccine rollout has been, it will be able to go ahead by then. Fingers crossed!

Not a huge Luke Bayer fan, so we'll see how his Mark is, as it's not a role I would have pictured him in but looking forward to see what he does with it. Have to agree, Blake was a brilliant Mark but hopefully Luke will be fab as well.
I am very excited to see Isaac as Angel later on in the run though. Not that I don't like Alex but I like seeing different people in roles and with this production not really having understudies AFAIK, it'll be great to have a guaranteed two Angels I'll get to see - Covid permitting that is. With how things are going, everything I've booked I take with a HUUUGE pinch of salt right now for it to actually happen on the dates I'm booked for.

Yes, I would have liked to have seen Blake's Mark live (rather than just on video), but he's chosen the West End debut option instead, which is quite understandable.
I didn't realise Isaac was taking over as Angel. Just seen Isaac is on from 5 September (which is presumably when Alex goes to rehearse &Juliet). Hopefully I can get back to see Isaac, I'm sure they will be great.

It was brilliant to finally see this in person! The cast are sensational, especially Tom Francis, Jocasta Almgill, Maiya, and Dom Hartley-Harris (who got a half standing ovation for I’ll Cover You reprise).
Luke Bayer is really talented but I just didn’t like him at all as Mark. I don’t know what it was, maybe it’s because Blake Patrick Anderson was so good in the role that it’s hard to top? His voice sounded too high.
I brought my sister who isn’t into theatre at all and she didn’t quite get what was going on half the time. She found the story hard to follow sometimes.
Can’t wait to go once more in September!

So pleased to finally see this ‘live’. It needs a further life touring smaller unusual venues. Hope Mill was delightful and the sound balance was fantastic for such a tiny venue. Stand outs for me were Tom Francis & Dom Hartley Harris. Such outstanding voices. Francis is practically Adam Pascal vocally, and would make a very strong Radames if ‘Aida’ finally made its way here. There are no words for Doms ‘I’ll Cover You’ reprise. It felt like the whole room was holding its breath.
I’m still no fan of Luke Bayer. Just too mannered and fake nerdy, but vocally fine. The five ensemble players play all the other parts fantastically. None of the other ladies really stood out, other than Jocasta Almgill’s Joanne. Such a clever use of space & staging. Bravo. Still my favourite musical.

As my final show of my Manchester weekend, I was at today's matinee. Having watched the streamed version of HM's RENT and not really getting much out of it, today's matinee was a completely contrasting experience. A really great afternoon spent at this wonderful theatre watching a top-class production.
Having only booked for this a few days ago and grabbing the last available ticket, it was definitely worth the investment. Dom Hartley Harris's Act 2 reprise of "I'll Cover You" was worth the ticket price alone. It's moment's watching that kind of performance that live long in the memory once you leave the auditorium. Leaving the theatre this afternoon, I heard nothing but glowing reviews from the other patrons about this production and the standing ovation at the end was thoroughly deserved in my opinion.

It's a shame there isn't anything on at the other theatres at the moment I'm interested in because I don't think I can justify a trip and overnight just for this one show. It's also a waste just to go for a matinee seeing as I've never been to Manchester before, I'd like to explore if/when I go and it about 3 and a half hours each way travel for me so that's not ideal.

I think they are just bunched up very tightly to each other. Thanks david. I used to go on the aisle and when everyone was seated moved the chair out a bit to give some shoulder/arm room. If they’re attached to eachother it will be incredibly cramped for bigger folk. |

Ah, I was on the end of row C so didn’t notice the seating connectivity arrangements, plus 2 pints of Peroni (It’s Sunday!!!!). I’m a big lad and having room to move on one side is a theatre must for me. Still getting over how authentically brilliant it was, and my daughter (in Leeds) is talking about going again before the end of the run. Unless you can fly me up, I probably won’t manage it again.

No matter how many times I see Rent, I never feel I understand it.
I was due to attend tomorrow, but as I was in Manchester I also grabbed the last available ticket tonight. Towards the back, but it’s a small tiered theatre so doesn’t matter.
Face masks, glasses and tears don’t work well together.

Sorry to be asking that question but the Hope Mill website seems to be recommending wearing masks inside the theatre and supplying sanitizer. No requirements for vaccine or test status. Is that what people have experienced please?

Is that what people have experienced please? , Nobody asked to see vaccine or test status when I was there on Sunday. For masks, some people wore them others didn’t. There was plenty of sanitizer around the site. |
