I saw the show at The Adelphi, it was the same day as one of the Queens Jubilees. I do remember enjoying it but don't remember too much apart from it being set on Coney Island. I do quite enjoy these concerts as you don't have to listen to all the dialogue and just the music either a bit of narration. And cuts about 30 mins off the actual show.

Beyond disappointed. I realise it's expensive to mount any kind of production, but with the number of concerts that are coming up featuring ALW shows - is this being cheap, is it testing the waters for a later production, is it a one off to give theatre staff labor hours?

I get confused when people complain about these concert performances. They are not intended to be substitutes for a full production - they're an opportunity for people to see/hear the score performed live by top performers and orchestra, with some production elements thrown in (props, costume, direction). I get people are disappointed if they were expecting an announcement for a fully staged revival, but I don't think that was ever the case here. If a concert performance is not your thing, then don't go, but the alternative is to have nothing at all. I don't think you can even compare the costs/logistics/time/risks involved between staging a one(or two)-off concert performance and mounting a full-scale revival. If the demand and reception is positive, it gives exposure to a piece and could lead to a future production.

Ramin Karimloo’s “Till I Hear You Sing” was just something else. I loved the whole aesthetic of it. I wonder how much of that will make it into a concert production.
I’ve set an alert for the presale and fully happy to use a day’s annual leave to see this! I thought it was never going to resurface professionally.

I absolutely adored the original London version. It was visually stunning IMO and Ramin and Sierra were incredible. I definitely thought it was in a different league to the Australian/Hamburg version which, while I liked it, I thought it had quite an ugly set in places - the hotel room and Christine’s dressing room particularly. The Adelphi version looked sublime. Anyway, add me to the list of people excited about this. The ALW treats keep coming this year :-)

. Ramin Karimloo’s “Till I Hear You Sing” was just something else. The Phantom from the Danish production sung it exquisitely as well and I think it blows Ramin out the water. It’s very, very sexy.

For reasons known only to them, this is more expensive than Evita and you now have to go back to row M if you want an aisle top price non premium seat.

Row B for Monday. £125 ... but Row C etc £154 with signed programme. However, following the Row B link it asks if you want to pay £12.50 for a signed programme ... so, unless I've got that wrong .....
And it's 3 performances - Monday evening, Tuesday matinee (2.30) and Tuesday evening.

Prices are a bit steep. Maybe he’s trying to offset some of the money lost from “Bad Cinderella” here. Regardless, ticket booked for the matinee (love a Tuesday matinee) and very much looking forward to it.

Top price tickets are the top price you're charging. Centre stalls is centre stalls whatever theatre you're in. The seat is the same, the view is the same. Throwing in a programme doesn't change much.

I had a browse through old emails and I paid £85 for central stalls D for Chess last year so this is very expensive. Ahhh still, who knows when the opportunity to see/hear this live will come back again so forked out for this. Will be lovely to see this in Drury lane too and to see Celinde play Christine again

Too expensive for me. Pencilled Tuesday matinee into diary in the hope of a discount nearer the time.
(Opted instead to book two Sunday concerts at Cadogan Hall - Rachel Tucker in November and The British Theatre Academy next month. Front row VIP / Premium ticket for each for a total under £100.)

Things are worth what people will pay for them I guess - front centre of the royal circle is already pretty much gone for the evening performances even at £154 including the signed programme. I’m one who is happy to splash out on this one, and lucky to be able to. Booking the day off work now!

Guilty for calling it "top price non premium" (it's usually what I go for where what I want to pay and how good I want my view to be is balanced) - but you're right. Marketing spin aside they are simply 3rd/4th price. As for the prices for this, I don't massively begrudge it (despite being frustrated that the seat I got for Evita has moved to "premium" for this) as investment in a decent three shows only event must be huge. And my recent travelling has taught me prices here remain much lower than NYC, Austria and Germany (not that I don't wish they weren't cheaper here - it's a tricky one).

Yeah I used to do it too but I just think its ridiculous. The top price for something is the most being charged at the end of the day. I got into a Facebook 'discussion' with someone years back about a regional venue and a big tour visiting (may have been wicked). Anyway they were saying that top price was one thing, or there was premium if you wanted to pay for it. I then compared this venue to another that didn't have the premium seating and said the exact same centre stalls seats were about £50 cheaper.

Yes, I understand feeling disappointed if they've pulled a full-blown production and tour of Love Never Dies after auditions had started. However, I'm not sure this concert version is related, nor is the reason a full production was cancelled. I'd imagine it was pulled long ago if it was in the audition stages last summer. So my comment is still valid: this concert is not supposed to be a substitute for a revival, but rather an opportunity to perform the piece with top-level performers and a large orchestra in a concert format. Much like they're doing with Evita, despite a full production of that show planned for the Curve this Christmas. I have no idea of ALW's budget, but I would say the opposite - he seems to be pumping money into new ventures to get his work, including his back catalogue, on stage at the moment. He certainly kept (Bad) Cinderella running longer than it should (finance-wise) on both London and Broadway, and he has several new productions in the planning for London, on tour, and around the world.

Couldn't get the seats I wanted in the stalls for the Monday but managed to get them for Tuesday. I rather like these concerts so looking forward to this especially the orchestra.
