Seems to be a trend of sitcoms being adapted to the stage with the likes of Yes Prime Minister, Only Fools and Horses and The Upstart Crow.

This sounded like a bad idea when I first read but now I'm thinking if it was updated to your neighbors going "off grid" with more up to date tech then it could be interesting.

Katherine Parkinson does have a decent resemblance to Felicity so I could see it being workable. Fenella Woolgar would be a decent shout for Margot. The casting of Tom will be the key one as the show was really built around Richard Briers originally.

It was but in the end Penelope Keith became the breakout star and the show became more of an ensemble piece. Most of the laughs ended up coming from Margot, I think she's the tougher role to cast well.

Is this really stage material? I haven't seen the series in a long while but my memory is of a very safe, very twee show, certainly not something I can imagine shelling out top dollar for.

It isn't high art but it is a name to draw non regular theatregoers to buy tickets.
I don't think it will be a great play but it should be diverting. If they get the right cast, it will do well.
Yes, Prime Minister wasn't a great play but it sold tickets all round the country.

Most of the settings were the Good's kitchen, their garden and Jerry and Margot's living room so the staging should be fairly easy. Four leading characters and maybe a couple of ensemble as delivery/postman and friend of Margot or her cleaner - who would be played by the male and female understudies. |
