I was there too last night.
I have been listening to the OBC recording for many years and saw the Lyric Hammersmith production, which I remember pretty well.
(I believe) the Lyric Hammersmith production was a replica of the Broadway production.
This, however, was an entirely different production, which allowed for further character development.
I am not Jewish and having read through the previous posts regarding this show, the mask that everyone has referred to in previous posts and any possible offence that may have caused was completely lost on me.
Audience interaction- don't worry. I was in the third row and all that happened was that once or twice the whole cast are standing in a row singing directly to the audience and Hanschen passed a picture to someone.
There is some serious talent on stage, and such great diversity in the casting.
Laurie Kynaston I saw in The Son and was great as Melchior. As was, Amara Okereke as Wendela.
Nathan Amarkwei- Laryea as Hanschen was also a stand out.
The pregnancy, the suicide I remember.
The child abuse, the abortion and Melchior being sent to a detention centre, I don't.
The wig flying off was amusing but her, this is live theatre, things happen.
The one thing that I do feel aggrieved about is not the production itself, but the theatre.
This got a standing ovation last night.
I was sent two emails reminding me about wearing a mask and carrying out a lateral flow test.
Now, whilst I understand the importance of doing so and although I did (negative) this wasn't checked at the theatre.
I have twice been the theatres where this- or evidence of being jabbed- was checked before my ticket was however, again, despite my two emails, this was not checked.

I have twice been the theatres where this- or evidence of being jabbed- was checked before my ticket was however, again, despite my two emails, this was not checked. The e-mail only asks you take a lateral flow test before attending, it doesn't state that it is a requirement of attending, and it doesn't mention the Covid pass at all, so I don't think they're failing to follow their stated policy, it's just that what you thought was a requirement is only a request. While I've ben to some theatres that have required proof, the majority I've been to haven't, so I don't think the Almeida is out of line. (I can't speak to mask-wearing as my performance of this was cancelled, although I thought it was well-policed at the performance of Macbeth I went to, with the proviso that anyone can be "exempt")

Seeing this on Wednesday. Quick question to anyone that's been, what accent is the show delivered in? I've seen a few amateur productions over the years that have been delivered with an American accent but more recent professional productions have used UK regional/RP accents

Ilse’s Welsh lilt is particularly pleasing as is Moritz’s almost Geordie. Everyone else is pretty neutral.

There's a handful of tickets available for tonight, including a couple of sets of two. Go see this show if you can! It's definitely worth it.

Yay, I had a ticket to the previous closing night and just got myself one for the new one as well. I love their cheap 'restricted view' tickets that really aren't restricted, at least not for this production.

Do you have a recommendation out of the cheap seats? I found one that looked good on Seatplan but the photo doesn't make sense with the number of the seat in front!

I've gone for D20 in the circle which looks like it has a pole but extra legroom due to it! Excited, I saw the Novello production twice including an emotional closing night

I saw this on 1 January - on a last minute ticket, as a replacement for a cancelled production - and loved it so much that I have re-booked today to go again, with two friends. I'm not a musicals person, really, but this has Rupert Goold's playfulness all over it, and it's beautiful, imaginative and just so lovely. I loved both the stage design and the costumes (I'd wear most of that!). It is also bursting at the seams with talent, with Laurie Kynaston and Stuart Thompson as definite standouts for me. The friend who came with me loved it too, although he's not into theatre at all (this was his first visit in 3 years of living in London, and we're going to see "Operation Mincemeat" next, so I guess the Almeida did something right there!). Thoroughly recommended if anyone has any doubts. Do book for this if you can (there are still some seats available for the extended week!).

Saw this last night and I was really impressed. I'll start by saying that the 'restricted view' seats are great (I sat right at the back of the circle in row E and I didn't miss anything)
This was the second time that I've seen Spring Awakening, the first. being an amateur production in Sheffield a few years back when I was studying there. The casting, I felt was great, especially for Moritz, Wendla and Melchior. All brought their own to. the production and I loved the fact that the cast were all using their own accents for this. I also really liked the portrayal of the adults in this and how well each character was differentiated from the next, with many productions often just altering an item of clothing. Staging wise I thought this was really interesting, especially the use of the mirrors and the projections.
I was a bit unsure about the new version of Totally F*****d. It's one of my favourite pieces in the show and was full of energy but the ending left me a bit flat. I've always seen this as the 'rock concert' number and it was a shame the very end of it didn't feel this way for me. I'm sure other people would love this alternative ending though.
The new song, 'There Once Was a Pirate' I thought was nice but I can understand why it was cut from the original production as I wasn't quite sure how it fitted in with the story. Nonetheless, it was performed well by the cast and it was nice to see something you don't see in other productions.
Overall I thought this was a great production that has been really well imagined and is very original in its portrayal. I'd love to see this do a short run in a smaller west end theatre.

The extension has sold out. Lets hope this won't be the end for this production. There's no mention of a streamed version (which I'm still hoping for!) so it feels like there may be a transfer.
