Great news. I had to cancel a trip to see this, then managed to book the extension, and that ended up getting cut short by cast sickness. Very excited to finally be able see this.

Ha, I was AT the performance that was recorded - super awkward close up cameras at times for the intimate scenes which obviously quite impacted the live performance enjoyment. But I bet they got amazing footage so can't wait to see this again.

But I remember tickets were cheaper for that performance, so I was happy.

Given I had tickets on three separate dates for this, two of which were cancelled by the Almeida and one by me when I had Covid, I'm pleased I'm finally getting the chance to see the show, although I fear that as a none-fan of Spring Awakening (but curious to see what the Almeida did with it) seeing it at the cinema rather than in person might mean too much distance.

I think with what The Almeida did with it, it will translate incredibly well into film. I’ve seen the original Broadway/London casts, and the Deaf West production, and this was my favourite of all of them. It was so very special and the cast were just outstanding. I still think about Stuart Thompson’s performance as Moritz all the time, he was just incredible.

Given that it's having a cinema release, is there any chance this will end up on DVD/Blu-Ray, etc?

Very poor selection for the cinema release. Can’t even book tickets for Curzon without paying £50 for a membership! Guess won’t be seeing this then

I live in North Wales. Nearest venues appear to be either Harrogate or Bristol. So that’ll be a no from me too.

Another gutted fan in the Northwest here. So frustrating when we have Everyman cinemas in Manchester, Liverpool, Altringham, etc, and none of them are screening it. I got in touch with the Almeida box office and asked if there were any other screenings to be announced and their answer was "not at this time". So still disappointing but maybe hopeful that there will be more screenings to come. Might be worth several of us making some noise over the fact that several parts of the UK have nothing nearby.

No Curzon or Everyman in NI either.

It'll be a rights issue as to why it's only screening in certain cinemas (I do some work in film distribution and the red tape is ridiculous so it only going to Curzon and certain Everyman is not entirely surprising)
I have half a suss this will end up on TV over the Christmas period though - keep an eye on BBC 4

Why on earth is it a “members only” screening?
The audience for this is niche enough - do they really not want to sell any tickets at all ?
Zero commercial logic.

In a case of very poor marketing - Almeida have confirmed that it is not a members only screening.
Curson members currently have priority booking after which ticket sales are opened to non-members.
This certainly could have been better communicated on the Curzon site to avoid such confusion.

Sorry I'd have clarified had I known - we got notification of our priority on Monday for I forget how many days (might be a week)

They tried to charge a similar figure when they screened Everybody's Talking About Jamie and I refuse to pay it.
I told the girl behind the counter 'why would I play that sort of money for a screening, when I can purchase a day seat for less and seating in the theatre seeing it playing out live in front of me?'
The girl looked stunned and couldn't respond.

She wouldn’t have known what a dayseat was either.

Yeah...it's not the person behind the counter's fault on the price...
