The view from front row A13. Looks high-ish but you can see stage floor so that’s positive! I’m in A12 next Sat night, looking forward to it even more now having read the posts from those there tonight. |

Bear in mind the picture of Imelda is taken whilst standing - it's definitely high but not unreasonably so. Tbh for the price, I'd have been happy enough to sit and just listen to the fantastic orchestra. |

Still debating if I should book first row or do the lottery/rush. If I go for a first row seat, should I choose seats on the left (stage right) or right (stage left)? No central seats available for the dates I can attend, but there are still some aisle seats at the sides… It's all played pretty centrally, but if I had to choose, I'd go for stage right. Thank you 🙏 |

It's all played pretty centrally, but if I had to choose, I'd go for stage right. Thank you 🙏 Do not book the extreme aisle seats in rows A and B though. They are totally blocked. Like you will see nothing. Anywhere but those £15 end of row should be fine. Will put review up tomorrow, but great to meet other Boarders tonight. |

Great to hear so many positive reviews for a 1st prevuew. No doubt soom loon will leave a 1* in the poll anyway. For this particular production it was 100% the £20 ticket. For other theatres where the rake isn't any use it's because I'm short and have the worse luck known to man when it comes to tall fidgeting people sitting in front of me so would rather deal with a crick in my neck and a view that remains the same no matter the restriction. 😂 |

5* from me. First preview, astonishing. Agree there were some lighting issues, not hitting the right spots at times. "Just Leave Everything To Me" as first number, I thought Imelda struggled a bit to keep up with the orchestra. The waiters dances, excellent but did go on a lot. Curtain calls need tidying up. Me being picky.
The freeze of the other cast members as Imelda walked through (like the film) was great, Travelator - great great, used a lot and very effective; the train! The train!! Oh my!! That was simply stunning. Great scene. For a short run (what is it, 10 weeks?) the sets are impressive. Every cast member, terrific work - Andy Nyman was wonderful, Tyrone Huntley winning hearts all around me. Great night. Back again for a matinee at the end of the month in that Row A, centre. It looks high from where I was tonight (H20 Stalls). And I've booked for the last night too, I do love me a last night.
Jim Carter (Mr Imelda Staunton) was 2 rows behind on the aisle. There was a party for the cast after tonight, all heading upstairs with guests. Get your merch before the show, or the interval - I got a programme (£10) but decided at the end of the show I wanted a mug (£12 I think) and a poster (£5 - not rolled,so it got a bit bent on the packed tube home) - and I got a tote, which is £10 I think, and huge, much bigger than the usual hanky sized ones you get a shows. The little merch counters were closed at the end of the show and there was a bit of a queue at the main merch stall.

Oh, front row generally, I don't like a lot of heads in front of me (memories of bloke with the huge 70's afro at Wicked years ago, where the woman in front of me literally couldn't see a thing, poor love, and did a lot of bobbing from side to side to try and catch a glimpse of stage). People with phones, people nattering to each other mid-show. Much prefer a front row.

Depends on the theatre, but they can be some of the best seats in the house if the stage is low (my local is, drury lane in my view is). Completely immersed and forget there are 100s/1000s of people behind you. Plus, with family with sight loss they are pretty essential. Sadly though not many theatres have low stages. |

It is definitely a 'must see' - in the front row you get a lot of glances from the cast. I will caution though that (for me) the Palladium was very warm last night at times (not helped by arriving with minutes to spare) - quite a few of the ensemble in the dance numbers were sweating heavily in their fabulous costumes. I also noticed in one scene (with a bright downlight behind the set) just how dusty the Palladium is - you could literally see the dust hanging in the air. |

Now I have had time to sleep and reflect on last night I have a couple of things to add and comment on some of the other reviews from last night.
Agree about the lighting and there were a few times when the stage did seem a bit dark - but this was first preview so that will be sorted out easily.
I'm going to mention the train again, it was a real gasp moment and got a round of applause when it appeared.
Also agree that the bows need sorting as the last number felt like the bows which is why people stood and then we realised it wasn't the bows so if they could tweak that a bit would make it much clearer.
Someone has mentioned about the heat in the theatre, I think that will depend on where you sit. We were in row P of the stalls just where the overhang starts and it was freezing. I think we must have been underneath a air con unit, so maybe wear layers.
Also agree about buying the merch before or during the interval. We also got caught out as my friend wanted to get a programme at the end but the small booth by the stalls side exit was closed.
On the subject of the merch the fridge magnet which is really nice was £7.

Looking forward to my Palladium backstage tour next month .. did a backstage tour when Wizard of Oz with Michael Crawford was on, nosing about in the wings and under the stage looking at props was a highlight.
Agree with the Dining Room curtained booths - if you are sat far right or far left of the stage I doubt you'd see what was going on inside the booth on that side, from me checking views as I was leaving. There's a reveal that gets a big laugh and I'd feel peeved if I wasn't able to see what was going on.
Stalls H I was boiling!
Yes, I think it's a must see. I do think Dolly (Imelda) could have done with a bit more extravagance in her costumes, some felt a bit restrained; even the green "big entrance" dress.

I spent most of that scene thinking that a curtain would get stuck. There must be a better way to stage it - and because they're at the extreme sides of the stage, for lots of it you just have a huge empty stage in the middle. |
