Imelda’s just said on Facing the Music that they’re hoping for 2023! It sounds SO far away, but in the grand scheme of things I know it isn't. We'll need this joy machine when we are done with 'this'!

Imelda confirmed in a CFT chat just now that the earliest she can do HD is 2023 but they are going to push hard to get it done that year. She also highlighted that Dolly is Irish and so can talk and so that might be her unique take on the role. Somehow, 'Ah Howerya Dolly, You're looking Grand Dolly', hasn't the same ring to it but I'd love a brassy Irish Dolly. I always assumed this would come back, but 12 weeks at the Palladium seems a bit silly for a brand new production - Joseph didn't recoup till it's second summer I don't think and it's your is where it's making the cash, and Beauty and the Beast and King and I are/were both tours that had a stop in London.
The 30 week stint at the Adelphi made sense as it gave them time to make the money back and a profit, so unless it's planning to tour (albeit with a different star) it seems weird just from a logistic point of view (not doubting you Mr B you're always good to us with info - just trying to work out the logic!)

Didn't MrB mention The Curve production of The Wizard of Oz which is in December will transfer to the Palladium in the summer of 2023? I always assumed this would come back, but 12 weeks at the Palladium seems a bit silly for a brand new production - Joseph didn't recoup till it's second summer I don't think and it's your is where it's making the cash, and Beauty and the Beast and King and I are/were both tours that had a stop in London. I imagine it will tour after the Palladium run or do a second summer season in 2025. It's being produced by David Ian and Michael Harrison and the latter was responsible for the 2019 and 2021 stints of Joseph at the Palladium.

The wizard of Oz will play there next summer. That’s saved me a bit of money then as I have absolutely zero interest in seeing that again on stage

I really wanted this to run after Imelda. I'd like to see various actors in the role of Dolly. Anyway... mrbarnaby, any news on Jenna Russel? Is she still attached?

All I know is the dates have been worked out around Imelda’s schedule. I would imagine that most of the announced original cast would return as this is 2 years away

I would LOVE to see Hello Dolly, one of my favourite musicals that I've never seen live.

As one "Dolly" leaves the Strand, another will arrive! Glad this news is out in the open. Will be nice to see another production having seen the recent Broadway version 4 times. The hardest thing to grasp as a young amateur young is that you’re too old to play Barnaby and are around the age of Cornelius, although you’re not too far off being too old for him either and soon you’ll be auditioning for Horace!

Imelda says this is still on for 2024, after the Crown is finished filming and that a venue is confirmed

The London Palladium will be perfect for this - a much warmer house than the Adelphi.

If it's being produced by David Ian and Michael Harrison as the original plan was, it'll be a cheap as hell production so tickets should be affordable!

I know I paid £120 a ticket for the cancelled show at the Adelphi but that included some bubbles and a programme.
