Isn’t there going to be another A Dolls House at Young Vic too? Wow, it’ll be interesting to see how different this, YV and Hammersmith productions will compare

Now this is exciting! Chastain is a phenomenal actress, Molly's Game and the recent It Chapter 2 really show her range. Provided tickets aren't astronomical I'll certainly be seeing this!

She’s exciting. Another production of that play is not. What a shame ;(

Not a huge fan of A Doll's House but I would pay to watch Chastain read the phone book so I will definitely be going to see this!

I love JC but when she was last on B'way in The Heiress she got taken for a really rough ride by the critics.

I wonder what’s going to fill the gap between Cyrano and A Doll’s House

I’ve never heard of her. Will she be much of a draw for the general public ? Why is the London theatre establishment so keen on importing American actors ?

The YV is doing Nora : A Dolls House based on Ibsen but set in three different time periods

Looking at her IMDB, the only thing I've ever seen her in was the Suchet Poirot she did and I have no recollection of her in that at all.

She's one of the best of the current film actresses in their 30s/40s. She should have won an Oscar for Zero Dark Thirty.

I wonder what’s going to fill the gap between Cyrano and A Doll’s House Baz says it's still being negotiated. Apparently there will be three productions in the season.

More interested in this than the Cyrano, she is a great actress.

I’ve never seen a single episode of Poirot so I won’t have seen her in that either. On checking, I’d heard of two of her films though.

Surprised they haven't gone for a new translation - the McGuiness is not the most current of versions

Surprised they haven't gone for a new translation - the McGuiness is not the most current of versions The full article says they were going to, but then JC read the McGuinness version and wanted to do that one. That's the version incidentally which was last done at the Playhouse with Janet McTeer and Owen Teale.

I've been to the cinema about 4 times in the last 15 years as its not a medium I engage with, if it wasn't for her dogging story on Norton I'd have no idea who she is. There are probably lots of "stars" of film that I've never heard of and I suspect going forward with the increase in streaming this will only get worse for me. I get far more excited about passing Nicholas Le Provost in the street than I would Brad Pitt or Jessica Chastain.

The real problem with this production is that Jamie Lloyd is directing - he's not much good. He's a really excellent producer of plays and seasons and able to attract big star names, but as a director mediocre. Really he should run the Young Vic or NT or somewhere like that where his skills as a producer would be a big advantage.

'Tell me what she's been in? I swear to God, I don't remember anything she was in' 'I don't know her' The first time I’ve ever seen her name is in this thread. Why is that hard to believe ? I don’t go to films or watch any pay TV so how could I know her ? She’s never acted on stage in UK as far as I’m aware. My guess would be based on a deep analysis of “Pointless” that, in the population as a whole, I’m in the majority.

I believe you. There are many actors I don't know.
It was just a cheeky post quoting Lopez and Carey.
