they announced today that they will show Carousel and Half a Sixpence
never have seen anything about Carousel, would you recommend this? is this a more "classical" musical ?
wonder when they will cast the actors/actresses

Carousel is the second musical written by Rogers & Hammerstein first performed in 1945, yes it is very much more a classic musical! It's also being staged at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in 2020. Auditions will not be until the new year so will be quite a while before casts are announced!

Interesting that Cam Mac has given them permission to do Sixpence - I see that Wright is keeping his choreo but I wonder how similar the production will be to the CFT/West End production? Will also be interesting to see who gets cast as Kipps as I assume Charlie will still be in Mary Poppins
Edit: here are the tweets for anyone who hasn’t seen

Thoroughly enjoyed their production of Joseph this year (much preferable in my opinion to the new West End version). Could see me wanting to do both of these, but might wait for casting.

Carousel music is exquisite however I’d give the storyline a once over on Wikipedia before u book - it has a pro domestic violence stance, woman should put up with/enjoy being punched ‘by their man’, so depends if u can stomach it. Lovely tunes thou

Have any Kilworth shows gone on to have a life elsewhere?

Have any Kilworth shows gone on to have a life elsewhere? Not usually given that the productions are custom made to the small, intimate venue and the staging wouldn’t translate easier to a more traditional theatre venue. Absolutely LOVE kilworth shows, two great choices for the 2020 season. Think Sixpence will work particularly well here.

Kilworth have taken the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 season again, now moving Carousel and Half A Sixpence to 2022. Their reasons are two-fold - the two productions are too expensive to mount with the current uncertainty about whether social distancing will need to remain in place for some or all of the run, and to protect their youthful cast and crew, most of whom will not have been vaccinated by the time rehearsals would have started.
They have however announced a new show - "Memories of the Musicals" - running from 3rd to 29th August 2021 (regardless of whether social distancing is in force) which will feature the very best songs from every one of the nineteen musicals produced at Kilworth House Theatre since the theatre opened in 2007. Six stars of the West End stage will sing and dance their way through more than fifty songs from Kilworth's back catalogue, supported by a live orchestra on stage. (I bet they'll be glad to get out of that tent!) Sounds pretty fabulous.

That sounds like a very sensible and reasonable decision to make.
