Just checked songs from Kids From Fame and was reminded of the brill,I Still Believe In Me...classic It’s gonna beeeeee a long niggghhhtttt... damn I love those songs! Back to Turbine! Ha She was well drippy! Deserved abandoning by the visiting Russian student or whatever it was made her sing that song. I’m more of a ‘Life Is A Celebration’ merchant myself.

Ha Really surprising there has been no move to get these songs on stage. Fame The TV series musical would surely have some sort of shelflife. Get the great Debbie Allen to direct it or at least be a consultant and it would have legitimacy.

After the incredible Fame Reunion weekend I'm sure some of the cast members would also agree to be involved - mind you, my bank manager would strongly disagree with the idea!

Carl Au's name seems familiar. I think I saw him win Sondheim student performer of the year award a few years ago.

Shanay Holmes was the star of Bridges for me, does anyone know if she has a sizeable role in this? She is definitely swaying me to catch this!!

Just booked for this...to save the ignominy of being potentially stranded like a beached-whale in a bean-bag,I have very boringly bought a ‘normal’ seat...sad to see this is not selling at all well.Shanay Holmes is in this and will one day be a WE lead...very soon,I trust.

Has anybody been to it yet? I have a Sunday matinee slot to fill in on 3rd November and I was thinking that this one might be a good choice! I think it officially opens on 2nd November so no official reviews until then.

I saw the matinee today! Liked it very much. Wasn’t familiar with anything about the show or story beforehand but have came out wanting to listen to the cast album. The cast were very strong. Definitely worth seeing.
Also the venue has great potential! Can’t wait to see what they do.

There's some directions here - theatreboard.co.uk/thread/6847/turbine-theatre?page=2 You're right it's a bit of a walk from the nearest tubes but easily doable by bus

Beanbag seats looked a little close for me, but the sofas looked great. I was about 2/3rds back and the view was great. We didn’t get out until about 17:45 but there was a delay at the start due to what I assume was a ticketing issue and then they were patching up an area during the interval as there was some water leaking in.

Have came out wanting to listen to the cast album. The cast were very strong. Definitely worth seeing. Me too! Saw this last night. It was great! I went as saw this because I read the book many years ago. I also saw the film for the same reasons- it was Jack Black's 'break-out' role. As good as he was, the male lead Oliver Ormson could have been better. I mean he hit all the notes and as good as he was (for me) there was something not quite there- can't really put my finger on it. The female lead Shanay Holmes was great! I saw her in Rent! at The Other Palace. She sang very sweetly. There is also a great supporting cast with Carl Au really standing out, singing with great voice and making the most of his role. With tight choreography in a small space, this has a really hard working ensemble cast, playing multiple roles, all of them in their own way, have a way to shine. They make great full use of all the stage, sometimes leaping out into the audience. There are one or two humorous rewind sequences and a very funny hippie character. Speaking of a tight space, when you're looking at the stage, the set is the inside of a record shop. The band sit above the stage. Some of these songs were really good. Never hearing them before, I found myself tapping my foot and at one point in the show, they encourage the audience to clap along. If them made a cast recording, I'd but it. The theatre, not huge and not a huge audience but last night it was full. The easiest was to get the is to catch the 44 bus from Victoria over the Chelsea Bridge, which at night time, lit up is beautiful. With a bit more money thrown at the set- to accommodate scenes set in the leads flat and the gym- I recon this could easily transfer to maybe a large stage. I'd give this 3.5-4 stars
