Might be a smart idea to keep an eye on one of the leads in White Christmas over the next few weeks. Just a hunch... I know it won’t happen because she’s doing Sister Act, but wouldn’t Brenda Edwards be an amazing Kit

Having now watched Dannys interview on Loose Women, I'm convinced we've found our Edward!

More disappointment. He's too young to be Edward. What a C list cast. At least i can save my money on this one.

Age doesnt really come into it with acting, does it? For me, he could definitely give off older gentleman vibes. The more I think about it, the more perfect he could be actually.

Only an amazing cast could save this mediocre show and, if the rumors are true, this won't be the case.

Seems a bit snobby. The two rumoured leads are both talented musical theatre performers, who I'm sure would do a good job. Would you prefer Sarah Harding and Ore Oduba?

It’s the Pretty Woman name that will attract 95% of the audience for this...the first time at least! So long as the actors aren’t bumping into the sunken baths and polo ponies it’ll clean up.

I don't see why Edward shouldn't be played by anyone younger just because Richard Gere was already in silver fox territory when they filmed the movie. Does it make the premise any more or less objectionable if a younger businessman buys a girl?
And what's mediocre about giving a talented female newcomer a chance rather than a "name"? Pretty Woman is one of these rare shows that will sell on its own title alone, so it's a great opportunity to cast a newcomer.

Why shouldn't they be considered/get it over some second rate stunt casting?! I know very little about the show, so would much prefer people that I know can deliver rather then names that are only sub par!

If you mean Aimie Atkinson, she's been playing leading roles for over a decade (she played the female lead in the UK tour of Zorro back in 2008) so she's not a newcomer.

I’m not personally a huge fan of Aimee Atkinson’s voice - overly affected and nasally for my liking, but I could see her as Vivian I guess! Her and Danny Mac is just not particularly exciting (rumoured) casting for me - but you could probably cast 20 year old Julia Roberts with a voice like Jessie Mueller’s in the role, and I’m still not sure they could turn it into a good musical!

I believe the Broadway casting of Sam Barks and Andy Karl contributed to its success. Sam is very well known as is Andy. While Aimee may be around for a while I do not think she is the draw. And the Pretty Woman is the draw.

The name of the show is the draw. Which musical theatre performer is cast makes next to no difference. The general public and tourists haven't a clue anyway.

Well this means I have to see it, I've got no interest in the show (or the film, which I saw once on TV and hated) but I adore Aimie Atkinson.

Delighted for Aimee to get this great role. I've seen her in a number of musicals, pantos and concerts over the year and she is a lovely charming woman with a great voice. She got major recognition with Six and now after over a decade of hard work she has a plum West End lead, I couldn't think of a more deserving performer.

Aimee is positively glowing in that photo! And I think Danny Mac will be lovely.

That publicity photo does not in any way say Pretty Woman and really they do not match. The red dress is missing. This does not entice me to see it.

Depends if they’re doing ‘Pretty Woman - live on stage’ a la ‘Dirty Dancing’, or an original musical based on the film ‘Pretty Woman’ using its’ story & themes but not recreating every detail in replica. It won’t have Julia Roberts in it either. 🙄🤦♂️

I think the main problem this show has is that it is an entirely new score that doesn't feature any music from the film soundtrack which was massive at the time. I don't even think it had Pretty Woman in it on Broadway until a couple of months after it opened. I think the general public probably thinks it is a jukebox musical and it'll have an initial rush of ticket sales because of that. Then once it opens and word of mouth hits, it'll die just as fast as it did on Broadway.
