The Lowry
So there is the marvelling at the nearly eight hours of spirited and herculean performance from Stephen Fry; and there are the greek myths themselves, and then there is the beloved company of those characters I have known all my life, but then there was something else. No one came out of these three epic events without having been transfigured in some respect; all of us came away having recognised, among the rogues and heroes and villains and victims and romances and challenges, aspects of ourselves, and we have been enriched, and transformed and nourished by this shared collective event. Humbling and inspirational. One man and a chair and good stories are more powerful than any literal representation.
Do not miss this staggering event over the next few weeks.

Oh theatremad, I'm excited for you to see this. In this days of relentless CG films, the spectacle of a man sat in a chair telling stories is beyond refreshing and far far more powerful. The myths certainly get under your skin, and wait for all the different emotions you will feel with the minotaur. I would happily sit through it all again. I love such theatrical marathons - Nickleby, The mysteries and so forth. So nourishing.

My poor partners moving next week and I told him that I wasn't missing Stephen Fry and I'd be around as much as I could. There is nothing like a good theatrical epic for the soul. Next after this will be My Brilliant Friend

Intrigued by this, only due to the static nature of and complexity of the subject matter taking it all in at the Theatre will be a challenge, I hope there will be a recording of this either on stage or in a studio as it is a subject matter and presentation for viewing at home where I will have the time to take in all the details.

The running time at the Lowry, bearing in mind there is some spontaneous audience interaction, was Gods finished at 10.15, Heroes at $.45 (from 2.00), and Men at 10.00. neil, it does not feel static at all. There are plenty of projections and animation and every so often he strides round the stage.

Saw Gods last night. Yes its flawed, yes its just Fry, yes it has low moments but my god even number one was a fantastic night of theatre. Heroes tonight.
Have only had 5 hours sleep because of joys of trains home and work cant wait for Heroes tonight
