southwarkplayhouse.co.uk/show/islander-a-new-musical/2nd to 26th October Rave reviews of this from Edinburgh including on here from @cardinalpirelli and karloscar A two hander, a capella musical for families at ten in the morning doesn't sound too promising, but Islander at Summerhall is an hour of magic. Bethany Tennick and Kirsty Findlay play multiple characters and use live looping to create a soundscape of beautiful harmonies telling the story of Eilidh's life on a remote Scottish island. Finn Anderson's score is quite beautiful. Sure to have a long life beyond the fringe, but try to see it here if you can.

Count me as another rave, this was one of my top favourite shows of the Fringe. A really beautiful story and the way they do the music is like nothing I've ever seen in a theatre before! Can't wait to see it again!

I suddenly burst into ‘I’m an islander, I am an islander’ from Come From Away after watching the trailer 🙈. Looking forward to seeing this.

Pay as You Go booking now working for this  Insert my regular plug for this excellent scheme - £60 for 5 tickets which never expire, you can use up to two for any performance, as many times as you want for each show. Only restriction is it can't be used for the last week of some popular shows (mostly musicals) and for one-off events. |

Absolutely adored this. Its story telling and music making at its very best.
Two very talented actors at the top of their game.

This was rather delightful on Monday evening. Great acting and I did enjoy the songs as well. It is rather crammed with action though - I rarely say this but a bit more time would really allow this to ,breathe’ some more.
Strongly recommended.

Just saw the last show and wow what a show it was! So creative and original. Brilliant acting and singing. So many interesting uses of the looping and their voices were gorgeous. I really loved it and it was a really nice and wholesome story. Just lovely really, which is always nice to see when there's so many shows with heavy themes. I can't gush about it enough to be honest but I'm struggling to articulate how great it was. Hopefully there's more life in it elsewhere and a cast recording if possible!

Sad to see this version only lasts 44 minutes, I was hoping it would be the whole show which was about an hour since there was nothing I can remember that relied on visuals to tell the story (as far as I remember there was only a single box, the looping machines and some fog machines?). Still I'm sure this will be a sufficient stand-in for the full thing for the time being.

I listened but was disappointed by the cuts to some songs (and I think maybe some dialogue as well). It made it feel a bit disjointed unfortunately but it was decent.

I love this show and am really hoping that as a two hander with minimal props it will get a chance to be one of the first shows back when theatres open. The costs involved would be lower than pretty much any other musical so even with social distancing it should break even in the right theatre
