Saw a dinner-show called Pirates in Majorca with lots of circus acrobatics and remembering thinking that it would be an incredible basis for a musical perhaps with Jack Sparrow and co onboard.Could be a winner,me hearties,as an immersive experience?

I remember seeing it years ago, and recommended it to my son who went last month. It engaged that 18 year old party animal so yes maybe it would have wide appeal. Me & the missus are going next week so might have a look. Think it’s quite pricey these days.

Haha, I saw that one too, some years ago. It was fun, but it seems to be a typical holiday resorts type of show, best enjoyed in a jolly half-drunk holiday mood. And don't give Disney ideas to milk that franchise further.
Perhaps someone would consider a revival of "Mutiny!" instead?

The pirates of (penzance) Caribbean has been done. I think it was the G&S musical set in the Caribbean.

That's just brought back a long distance memory as I remember seeing pirates in Majorca about 40 years ago. Although it must be much more sophisticated now than it was then.

The Pirates were all fighting the French for some reason and we were all encouraged to shout ‘No!!!’ to the question shouted out by the Captain which was,’Do we want the French here tonight?’.A precursor of Brexit perhaps.Completely bonkers panto stuff, but incredible acrobatics,sword-play and circus skills and masses of audience involvement.
Much more fun than shows such as Rock Of Ages and Jersey Boys and an antidote to the kind of moribund and morose self-importance in shows such as The Color Purple....IN MY OPINION

Euros...it’s in Magaluf,Majorca as in the old Sylvestra Le Touzel Heineken ad (the water in Majorca don’t taste quite like it outta)....seats at all prices from €50 - €150... cheaper than the upcoming Les Mis No-star concert and even classier than Bat Out Of Hell,would you believe?

Thanks ever so for the clarification. As I said, my son just got back FROM MAJORCA and we are going next weekend and might take a look at the Pirates show. It's not really comparable to Les Mis (which I’ve paid £35 for or was it Euros?) or Bat (which is about the least classy show ever, nor does anyone pretend it is). I gave myself overnight to reply in the interests of civility and think I’ve done incredibly well here. I hope you are feeling better. |
