This story has been told as a stage musical before. Zip Goes a Million. Well before the film by decades! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zip_Goes_a_MillionAnd of course the novel is over a century old. Both times when a million meant a lot more

I see the front row is low-priced for this. Is that just because it's a look up to the stage or for some other reason ?
Will be one of my more ambitious and expensive day trips from Kent to see a Saturday matinee in Chester but I do like seeing a new musical in a new-to-me theatre.
It's an unusual schedule as it stands. Just 18 performances over 38 days and only 5 are on weekdays. Do they add more according to demand ?

The unusual schedule is because it's being performed in rep with their in-house production of Antigone. The layout of the theatre for Made by Storyhouse productions is bench seating for the four rows in the Pit (the stage is raised up above what's usually the stalls for touring productions). Front row of the Pit is good value.

Thanks, Steve. I've booked A12 for a Saturday matinee.

I think we established from a regular in the Little Shop thread that the stalls are bench seating.

The Pit is temporary, part of the thrust stage set up, so its four rows of benches slightly below the stage level. I think it might not have a rake to it either.
The circle is part of the permanent theatre, has normal theatre seats and a rake. The theatre's quite small when set up like this, so calling it the circle is a bit misleading, as you're roughly at stage height and it starts directly behind the last row of the pit.

Sunday matinees and the possiblity of ending the performance with a boogie. david 's two favourite things. I’m definitely booking for this. Front row for £18, a disco musical and a Sunday in Chester (trains permitting), I am in theatre heaven with this announcement. Better get limbering up now as I’m off watching Riverdance at the Liverpool Empire in the same month. At least there is no audience participation for that. My last attempt at Irish dancing was a complete failure. 🕺

Sad news but won't be the last.
Lucky escape for me travel-wise. I had a Saturday matinee booked and was looking at rail travel options from Kent or London to Chester only yesterday but fortunately the advance tickets aren't yet on sale.

It’s a shame that it’s had to be postponed, but completely understandable in the current situation. I’d only booked an £18 front row stalls seat last night for a Sunday matinee in June as well. Hopefully the show can be rescheduled in the Autumn/Winter programme.

Sad to read this, but its understandable. They're doing three plays in rep at the moment and at the two I've seen (so far) there were quite a few empty seats, even in the smaller layout. And that was before the virus was over here.
