Wonder if they will save R3 for the 2020 summer season, more of a BO draw. Am hoping for Middleton.

I once heard tell of an RSC workshop in Stratford of Richard III with Nadia Albina in the title role. Now THAT is something I'd pay Sam Wanamaker Playhouse prices to see.

The recent Headlong R-III dispensed with Margaret entirely and to be honest it was an improvement. That’s what I find about Richard III. Love the character, not so much the play. Undoubtedly full of monologues and scenes for different characters that actors can get their teeth into. But its moments like Margaret that bring the play to a halt To be honest I’d rather see Emily Cardings one woman Richard III any day, and as much as I’d love to see HVI again I’m weary about the globe needing to gender swap nearly every production they do for the sake of it. A bit more variety would be nice Queen Margaret is meant to be the Amazonian, fearless woman who delights in having power over a nation led mainly by men. Wouldn’t gender swapping the nobles take that away. It can be a great role for an actress And I’m still not convinced about doing HVI in the Sam wanamaker

”All three parts condensed into one epic event”. If there’s one theatre in London uniquely unsuited to an epic event it’s that one with their appallingly uncomfortable, restricted-view, and punishingly expensive seats.

Well that's saved me some money as had planned on 3 Henry VI plays and Richard III, though suspect I'll book Women beware Women too

Hmmm, not that thrilled, though will definitely book for Women beware Women, a rarer Middleton would have been nicer but there it is. Might try the Swive thing.

I hate hate hate the idea of the Henry VI trilogy being squished into one single play, but not as much as I hate hate hate the idea of having to sit on that seating for three plays worth, so small mercies I guess.

Disappointed HenryVI is being edited to one play, will be a challenge to encompass the breadth of the original plays into 3 hours.
Will book the Shakespeare’s, likely do HenryVI and RichardIII on a single day for the flow (Osteopath permitting) and leave the others till the reviews / casting is known.

”All three parts condensed into one epic event”. More like one confusing production I may like the trilogy but I know it’s flawed, with a plot that can be challenging to follow. I saw van Hove’s condensed version in Kings of War and it took a while for me to realise that Richard Duke of York had been melded with his son, Edward IV. There were great leaps with the battles taken out, which can be the best thing about the trilogy The trilogy is basically Shakespeares own Game of Thrones. You need a director with vision to create a production on an epic scale with brutal fighting and a large cast

The Globe/Wanamaker have the worst website in town. So glitzy and complicated, but I can't find a calendar, without going production by production. East of navigation and clarity of information don't seem to be concerns of the Globe. If someone can provide me with a link to an actual calendar, I would appreciate it.

Agree, I only found it by chance when booking back in May. I know it's ridiculous but the key might be to log in first - I get to it from here:
Def interested in the Ella Hickson. Otherwise, early days for me ..
