A quite confusing message from that valedictory video they've posted on 'X' - all contributors seem to talk as if the venue is over (because PTM is leaving) but Arlene Philips ends it saying she hopes someone else will take up the reins and give it new life. I guess the venue could transform and be renamed - particularly if there's any negativity confirmed that attaches to the Turbine name.

Sorry, my brain is being slow because it's Monday. What is MU? Musicians Union. Thank you. A quite confusing message from that valedictory video they've posted on 'X' - all contributors seem to talk as if the venue is over (because PTM is leaving) but Arlene Philips ends it saying she hopes someone else will take up the reins and give it new life. Unless they somehow manage to get lots more seats in there and bigger shows, and charge a bit less, I can't see how it would work. I know when I went to see Closer To Heaven, I thought the prices were high for what it was, but then again there was a Tony-Award-winner in it.

Does anyone know if they are closing with immediate effect or will their panto go ahead and be their last show? The panto is going ahead for its existing run 21 Nov - 22 Dec, however 'Blowing Whistles', which was due to run October into November, has been cancelled. Writer Matthew Todd said on FB today that he wasn't surprised at the cancellation of his show, as he "knew there were some issues"

I’d say that this is the very definition of it *not working. The delusion.

A beautiful space and pleasant place to hang out at. Hope it will be taken over by another young forward thinking group and not another bar or store.

I'd love to know who the two Olivier winners are, referenced in the reply tweet. And the production that "walked" from a TOP offer for that matter.

Alas that doesn't work as you need to follow him to see all his tweets. Maybe he’s locked it, but the other day, I had no problem seeing it without logging in. EDIT: Sent you a screenshot of the tweet.

I don't do the whole 'behind the scenes' info thing but clearly far more knowledgeable people than me on here who have great points.
However, simply as a fan, I've genuinely had some of my favourite theatrical nights at the Turbine. Cheerleader and Eugenius were highlights to me, especially meeting other regulars (obsessives?) like myself, who turned up night after night during a run.
Also, the two chaps who worked there regularly were honestly two of the nicest FOH staff I have ever encountered. A very welcoming place that is a loss to us as fans.

Before the discussion progresses any further, please do not use this thread to bandy around unsupported rumours or to participate in a “pile on”. If someone is found to have been wrongdoing then it will hopefully be revealed with the evidence by a trade news organisation after they’ve investigated it fully. Until then please keep the speculation off TheatreBoard. Posting your personal opinion of the theatre and its productions is fine. Pointing readers here to other news sources is fine. A reminder of my earlier request above. I’d suggest you also read PTM’s ig post quoted by Jon above. I have removed some posts where interpretations of what might have happened are being made. Please do not speculate here. I’m sorry that it’s also been necessary to remove a post with a member’s personal recollections. Whilst I am not doubting the truthfulness of that I’m afraid that unless you want to reveal your real name in this thread (and I don’t expect you to do that) it’s just someone who could be anyone saying potentially damaging stuff about someone else on the internet. I don’t want this forum involved in that.

Sorry, you’re right unless I want to name myself then regardless of truth or not it puts the board in a precarious position. Fully understand my comments being removed.

I noticed that PTM removed both posts regarding stepping away from Turbine as well as the bullying.
Could it be that he decided to stay? Could this have been a marketing stunt?
