BETTE AND JOAN – a play by Anton Burge. Directed by Sue Jenkins with Julie Edwards as Bette Davis and Kerry Willison-Parry as Joan Crawford.
Once famous grande-dames of the film world, arch rivals Bette Davis and Joan Crawford worked together only once – in the classic 1962 film “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?”.
But their violent hatred of each other as rival sisters in the picture was no act.
Bette and Joan” tells the story of these two duelling divas throughout the intense three week shooting period of the film. We see both their individual preparations in their dressing rooms and relish the wickedly funny and barbed dialogue between them when they come together.
It is in turns poignant, tragic and deliciously hilarious.
