I gave the show 5 stars without watching it. Do you want to kick me out of the group for this?! OK! I followed the entire creation process of the show from the beginning. All of Andrew's struggle to take this forward and I'm not from the "Oh I hate ALW" group. I followed absolutely everything that exists on the net about this Cinderella. All songs already released. In the midst of this hunt I came across this forum that only reinforced my passion for the show. For those who really love Musical Theatre, I could not remain indifferent to the efforts of a 73-year-old man, in the midst of a serious health crisis, to deliver something new to the public. I perfectly understand the "Oh I hate ALW" group's arguments. Even so, I think it's gratuitously evil to massacre the efforts of several artists in a show that isn't even a week old. I don't know how they didn't put a defect in the door frame of the theatre or in the fabric that covers the seats. That's my thinking. Less meanness, more appreciation! We didn't come from easy times.

If the 1*ers did actually go to the show they must be ppppiiiiiiissssseeeeeeeddddddd they paid those seat prices to see it. I think yoga could solve this problem easily. Butchering a work of art just by stars is very convenient!

Wait, they've pushed back the official "Opening Night?" Yeah presumably until they can have a full audience in rather than the 50% at the moment.

We didn't come from easy times. You can’t vote for the show unless you’ve seen it. You can’t vote for a show just because the composer is over 70 or that it’s been staged at the end of a pandemic. You can’t vote for a show unless you’ve seen the live production, staging, costumes, songs in place, full casting, the revolve, audience reaction, live singing and so on. Plus some shows are great soundtracks/recordings but shows with vast problems in them (and vice versa). Please DO NOT VOTE unless you have seen the show live on stage. Otherwise what’s the point? Ugh…

We didn't come from easy times. I've seen no evidence of people damning the show because they hate ALW. I've been one of the most vocal negative voices (only since seeing the show, mind you - I made almost no comment before seeing it, despite reading every post here over the last couple of years) and I love ALW and know his work pretty much inside out. It's because I love a lot of what he's done in the past, and have such high expectations, that I judge his shows in, perhaps, a less forgiving light than I would some else's. But I also try to be open minded. And I was willing myself to love this show. When Stephen Ward opened, for example, I believe I wrote the most praiseworthy commentary on the first preview on the old version of this board. I don't think anyone here is damning this show because they hate ALW. Especially without seeing it!

There's a clumsily executed makeover for CHF behind a screen. That's about it. I think she goes off stage for a few minutes to change. Then there's someone dressed like her substituted on stage to make it look like she's transformed much faster than she has (possibly swapping places behind the screen - I can't quite remember, but it was a fairly obvious switch from my angle). Spot on. I could see CHF run off very clearly from seat D27. I felt the screen was clumsy and hope they tidy it up or use a better masking tool, as it could have been really good if the screen wasn't such a distraction.

Anyone who knows me even vaguely (tiretracks?) knows that. But I will express my opinion on his work, and at this stage that extends only to what I’ve seen/heard online from Cinderella, as I’m not going for another 3 weeks yet. I am finding that a lot of the long term ALW fans are starting to get a bit weary of his utterances and practices though. I think he can be his own worst enemy sometimes.

Literally the moment they brought out the screen I was like - this is the part where they swap Carrie with somebody else. It’s such an obvious swap out. Here put on this mask that covers your whole face and and now we’re gonna put you behind this screen that serves no purpose other than to cover the swap. Maybe if they did the shadows on the screen the first time round like they do when Carrie returns then it might make it a bit better.

Managed to grab 2 front row, centre tickets for this for tonight for only £49 a ticket. Anyone sat there? Not sure what to expect at all! Having not seen a show in London since before COVID, I'm hoping it's a good one to return on!

And the award for the most dramatic performance goes to....
If he's gonna charge me £85 for a preview performance, then he's going to get my opinion. The show 'isn't even a week old' and If you have followed the show since the beginning you would have know that. It's been around for years and had workshops back in 2019.
You can clutch those pearls all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that some of it is a mess. And if you were such a supporter of the show, i'm surprised you haven't been already. I'd book soon, it might not be around for long.

@tbfl exactly my sentiments; people have a right to critique as with anything. It's called opinion. If you don't like take the heat, get out of the kitchen, I say!

They asked whoever rated the show high as that, to speak up. I said what I think. And ready!

It clearly says at the top of the page "after seeing the show give it a star rating" so why are people on the thread saying they have given it a rating and not seen the show? Defeats the purpose.

Let’s not argue about the ratings please. It’s supposed to be a bit of fun! If people choose to use the ratings to reflect their opinion of the creatives or the process then I think they’re unlikely to change that opinion when they actually see the show. It’s not worth get annoyed over.

As the good Bear says, it's just a bit of fun.
I still haven't had my question answered though, I know there's eye candy for the gay guys and ladies to enjoy, but are there sexy ladies too?
These are the important questions that need answering.

When & where I grew up we couldn’t afford pumpkins so had to make do with a rotting Swede from the bins at the back of Warrington Market. So think on!

These are the important questions that need answering. I'm neither gay nor a lady and found the ladies are very attractive though not necessarily sexy, though I'd say more effort has gone into the guys (or maybe they just have stronger characters). I did find the Stepmother very attractive as an older slightly unhinged woman.
