It’s a very ‘British’ sense of humour at play here with Mr Hot Buns and the posts. ‘Carry on’ style almost. If this is a flavour of things to come, I wonder what international audiences will make of it once the West End is up and running again? Or if the aim is Broadway? I got the vibe from interviews that he was aiming for a ‘younger’ vibe and audience here but the ‘humour’ doesn’t fit the age group he’s going for really. All this aside I do like ALWs music and feel sad in a way that a brand new musical is being judged on poor marketing. From Marie Antoinette to buns. They’re really not helping themselves in keeping an air of mystery while churning out this kind of thing. It’s not mysterious it’s just random. However if the adage bad publicity is still publicity is true then they’ve certainly got us talking!

Why is theatre so bad at promoting itself? It’s not that long ago that people were absolutely slating & Juliet, especially when they did the flashmob on the Metrolink, but then loved it when it opened. I’m trying to reserve judgement for the actual show.
Mr Hot Buns could do with a more flattering costume IMO. Needs to be a bit less “Peaky Blinders extra” and more “Diet Coke break.”

Also don't see what the fuss is all about, he's not even that hot. He’s not hot at all! The marketing for this show is soooooo bizarre. Grafitti new logo (blue to gray), slow release of cheesy 80’s songs, another 17th century French let them east cake video in full costume and high wig, a dreadfully lip synched theatre music video with Carrie staring into the distance and now Oliver meets Beauty and the Best sexist hot buns short clips. JUST. WEIRD. (Take a look at Six marketing and style ALW team) cheers

WHAT IS THE SHOW ABOUT Seriously, what are they doing?!

I've had a moment to reflect.
I mean, rationally I know what they are trying to do. They're trying to manufacture a hashtag/meme for this guy and his "buns" to get people talking on social media about the show. No offence to the actor but they haven't exactly cast to suit the "sex sells" motif. Maybe I don't know, I'm a heterosexual male. Some sort of poll would be in order, if it didn't give credence and more attention to this tiresome charade.
This guy and his bottom is not going to be a meme. Memes produced by marketing departments don't work without serious financial backing (to produce high quality videos, AstroTurfing places like this, and a solid, amusing idea.). This is created by someone having watched half of a Carry On movie, without having understood it fully.
It's especially strange seeing as we haven't even seen his buttocks, the premise of the pun. The least they could've done is film this nonsense side-on so at least the verbal gimmickry has some context. Perhaps this actor has a particularly ravishing backside? We'll never know.
Unless you book now, you horny little devils!
Absolutely appalling.

desperation /dɛspəˈreɪʃn/ Learn to pronounce noun a state of despair, typically one which results in rash or extreme behaviour. "she wrote to him in desperation" "they flogged a dead horse in desperation" " they all nodded yes because he was ALW in desperation"
It all went wrong when he started to re-write Starlight Express and no one had the balls to say "Oi teacher leave that score alone"
Why doesn't someone just tell HIM!

WHAT IS THE SHOW ABOUT Seriously, what are they doing?! It feels like Oliver! ... I genuinely don’t get the marketing of this show. It’s a complete MESS. So frustrating that people get paid for creating this **** content!!!! Outrageous.

Did I read somewhere or hear it on his Composer in lockdown videos that ALWs daughter is doing the marketing for this? Or was she just filming his videos🤷🏻♀️
I’d be really interested to know whether people in the industry/connected to the show read here. If you do. Please ditch the lyrics to Bad Cinderella. The lyrics are just terrible and while the townsfolk are quite clearly being horrible to Cinderella in the song. Do we need more sticks to beat those with mental health issues by perpetuating harmful name calling?. Loon? Barking mad? I know nutter rhymes with gutter and mutter but Dave it’s 2021, time to lay down the primary school rhyming dictionary of catcalls and maybe try a more sophisticated approach? I wonder what MIND would make of this song whether cloaked as ‘satire’ or not. With this and ‘carry on’ marketing, I’ve taken huge chunks out of my cushions with second hand embarrassment.

When you finally see the show the publicity might suddenly all come together and make sense.
"Now I get it. I just needed to be tripping balls."

I'm guessing Belleville doesn't have the Trades Description Act. Or the baker is too dim to know that butter and flour definitely won't make gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan hot cross buns...
Also having watched the Tiktok, why does it always have to be Cockney that's the shorthand for "ragamuffin"? In Oliver, it's fine because you're in London. Here, you're in a completely fictional kingdom. Ditto pre-decimal British currency in the Twitter.

Ok so now we know ALW is actively backing this nonsense. Can he not see how cheap it makes the show look? Is it supposed to be a comedy? Panto?
Also, yes I AM going to be that person... where was the social distancing there?

Honestly, a pantomime of Cinderella with new ALW songs would be right up my street. Cinderella talking to Buttons is much better than exposition via the medium of her talking to the fire, and I think the whole Prince/Dandini swapping clothes is a really good way to have an introduction between Cinders and the Prince. Sadly, that's not what we're getting!
(Also, on the hot or not. Ivano is cute, but most people with their own money to buy tickets would be cradle snatching. Andy... hard to tell under the cap and the flour, but probably currently only appeals to people with very specific "bit of Victoriana rough trade" fantasies.)

The whole thing so far is like some terrible fever dream

Then you end up with his Wizard of Oz and where did that get anyone, except a healthy payday for some...
