Why waste a perfectly good melody? 😄
Some of my favourite ALW songs are pastiches or novelty songs (U-N-C-O-U-P-L-E-D, half of Joseph, Skimbleshanks). I hope we get some of that type when more of the score is released.

He looks very young, he hasn't got his grown up jawline and cheekbones yet.
It'll be interesting to see what the role ends up being, and how he interacts with Cinderella. It sounds like he's a good dancer, whereas CHF is more of a singer isn't she? He must have a good voice to have been cast though, and I'm sure she can learn some dances for the ball scenes (unless in this new and funky Cinderella it's street dancing or something, she doesn't strike me as a street dance type person!).
I also didn't think he was a prince, but seems to be being introduced as one.

New song. I'll have to listen to it again when I'm more awake, so far all I was getting was nice sweeping strings, vibrato, he cuts the end note off a bit fast to my mind, and pronounces "new/knew" as "noo" which I am not in favour of. I've just read that he's from Zimbabwe which would explain why a couple of other vowel sounds are a bit more twangy. I should think he'll be a big hit with tween and teenage girls. He's very pretty.

Hmm - it's saying it's unavailable here... are we seriously still trying to block stuff from being seen in the US?

There it is - showed up an hour later...
I'm enjoying all these drops. The only other show of ALW's that I grew to know in bits and pieces like this was Whistle Down the Wind (usually I wait and just sit with the entire 2 CD's) - but with each new release I'm growing more excited anticipating the full release.

I like the song but the jury is out on his voice. I'll of course wait until I see him in person but I tend to think that it requires a bigger more powerful voice to take advantage of it.
Plus he looks and sounds very 'sweet', which seems a bit of a mismatch if the Cinderella is going to be 'woke' and sassy.

I really enjoyed the orchestration at the end, that descending bit with the timps. It sounds very fairytale which I like (it reminds me of Barry Manilow's Let Me Be Your Wings from Thumbelina for some reason).

From the little I've heard about it, I think these lyrics may land very differently in context of the show. Cinderella more his helpmate in discovering who he really loves / him taking inspiration from her own struggles. As it stands out of context it does seem a very straight love song.

That song needs some proper welly behind it. Sadly it doesn’t get it from young Ivano.

It's a nice tune. Sounds like a mashup of "Perspective" from Woman In White and "There Is More To Love" from Aspects of Love.

Funny, to me it sounded like a mashup of All the love I have from The Beautiful Game and If Only You Would Listen from School of Rock. In fact I was wondering if Zippel was sort of trolling him because on some of the more similar sections he almost quoted the lyrics of those other songs

Can a show have too much exposure before it even opens? If so this is it. Is it still the same plot where the princes fall in love with each other I wonder. I am sick of Carrie and ALW. And it does not even open for 5 months. The 2 songs I have heard are only meh for me.

I'll try to break them down: Considering who's behind it and the fact that it's a major West End musical with a healthy marketing budget, I'd say they're doing what any producer would do to build awareness and engage with potential audience. A basic social media campaign, a TV appearance and two singles is not unusual these days for shows that are five months out. I It's apparently not the same plot. Many people don't like ALW or Carrie. I'm not a fanatic, but I can't say that ALW hasn't had a huge impact on my life as a theatre lover. I saw Carrie in Les Mis and Heathers, and she's a talented performer. She wants it, she worked for it, she has the goods for it and it's her time. You go girl.

According to Apple Music, Bad Cinderella is Track 3, and this is 10. Far Too Late isn't on there yet (shame, because it's probably my favourite so far, and I'd like to hear the soundtrack version).
I presume 1 and 2 will be Overture and some sort of scene setting?
There are 38 tracks altogether, so I'd put this firmly in the middle of Act 1 (I know it's hard to tell with things that are sung through, but 10 seems quite early and it doesn't sound like an act closer).

That song needs some proper welly behind it. Sadly it doesn’t get it from young Ivano. He looks like he comes straight out of one of Lisa Simpson's "Non-Threatening Boys" magazines. It sounds like it's written more for somebody with a voice like a young Michael Ball.

I'm kind of surprised by some of the negativity. Thought the guy sounded great, loved the song (and it's been in my head all day, classic ALW ear worm) - just hearing ALW play a clip of it on his piano reinforced it. And I'm imagining this will figure into a big reprise in the finale.
To whoever mentioned that mashup of "Only you would listen" - yep, had that in my head this morning to (like this version better) /perspective from WIW I'll have to listen to both again.

In this day and age performers have to market themselves. I know people might think CHF comes on a bit strong and from time to time she does, but the girl can sing and I give her a lot of credit for putting yourself out there. And she does have a wonderful voice. So I am excited for this and hope LO’C doesn’t mess it up too badly. I just find his direction to be safe.
