For those who want a handy list:
Marty McFly - Ben Joyce Doc Brown - Roger Bart Lorraine Baines - Amber Davies George McFly - Oliver Nicholas Goldie Wilson - Jordan Benjamin Biff - Harry Jobson Jennifer Parker - Sophie Naglik Strictland - Gary Trainor
New Ensemble: Simeon Beckett, Sia Dauda, Tyler Davis, Glen Facey, Dylan Gordon-Jones, Adam Margilewski, Bryan Mottram, Jon Reynolds, Georgia Tapp Charley Warburton
People staying on from the old cast: Emma Lloyd (Linda McFly), Will Haswell (Dave McFly / Marty Alt.), Anna Murray, Amy Barker, Cameron McAllister, Alessia McDermott, Laura Mullowney, Melissa Rose, Justin Thomas and Tavio Wright
I don't know who the understudies are, but as Mark Oxtoby was Strictland and understudy Doc I suppose Gary Trainor will be the same.

Oooo I think I saw Gary Trainor in School of Rock before.

I want to book to see this and thinking about booking the two seats at either end of row H or J. For those of you that have seen it, is it better to sit at the either the far left side or far right side in terms of effects or things you might miss/get a better angle of? Or doesn't it matter? Thinking specifically of the car and also it's reveal at the end. I've not seen the show before so try not to spoil it too much, but just wondered if sitting at one end is better than the other end. Many Thanks!!

Many Thanks!! I sat in the stalls far left and didn't miss any of the important bits, they all happened centre stage, if that helps.

Incredible atmosphere at the final night of OG West End cast last night - I don't think I've ever seen a show with such a loyal and engaged audience and I've been to a lot of last nights / cast change nights!
Video of the speeches here - (not my video!) - looking forward to catching the new cast members soon too!

Someone I know just reported back from the interval of the new cast’s opening night - apparently there’s been some streamlining (cutting some lines). Don’t know any specifics yet, but it’s interesting - I wonder if they wanted to bring the run time of the show down a bit (I love it and while the show doesn’t drag, it is a bit of a mad dash to the train station)

Caught the matinee today, second performance with the new cast. All very smooth.
Got to say, Ben Joyce is phenomenal and perfectly suited to the lead role. He’s successfully swapped the 60s and 70s with the 50s and 80s. Hadn’t realised until today that there’s a song in common between BTTF and Jersey Boys.
Perfect rush seat in the centre of the Stalls second row (I did try rush yesterday but only got offered Circle). The stage is high, but right in the bubble zone (and excellently positioned for the end of the show magic and a wave and smile from Ben).
I don’t know the show as well as others, but it does seem a bit trimmed and Roger Bart is much more spontaneous than I remember. The sound effects are also much quieter, which is a good thing.
Must say I enjoyed this version of the show much more than my previous viewings. Even being surrounded by crisp eaters couldn’t put a damper on things. Do go see!

Hadn’t realised until today that there’s a song in common between BTTF and Jersey Boys. Yep, Earth Angel. Is this the first time 2 shows have run at the same time with the same song?

There have been other examples in jukebox shows. For example, “What’s Love Got To Do With It” is in both Tina and Moulin Rouge.

Yep, Earth Angel. Is this the first time 2 shows have run at the same time with the same song? The reason is stood out to me is you have the same leader actor in both shows, so that must be more unusual to have a shared song.

According to a friend who likes to chat with the cast at stage door, the changes to the show are in preparation of the Broadway transfer. It’s a strange choice, given that despite the cuts the runtime hasn’t really changed all that much - so it seems a bit unnecessary and feels very ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’
The cuts include portions of certain songs (including in Is Anybody Home), and sped up scene transitions in Cake and My Myopia (some of which were from the Manchester run). Also Strickland now has hair, so the ‘did that guy ever have hair’ line has been removed.

From what I heard it’s because the guy they cast didn’t want to shave his head and they didn’t give him a bald cap. It’s an odd choice considering Strickland’s baldness is pretty iconic, but maybe he was cast because he’s a great Doc (he’s the understudy) over his baldness for Strictland! So hopefully if there’s a bald Strickland later on the lines will be reinstated

Agree with Dr Tom - Ben Joyce is phenomenal. There's a sprightly youthfulness to his portrayal of Marty and pitch perfect voice. His energy and precision are a much needed injection of vitality to the role. (Not to decry Olly Dobson or Will Haswell, both of whom are also fantastic in the role.)
This new cast (well, some new, some from the original cast) is fantastic. I've seen this show quite a few times in the last year and this evening's cast smashed it. This show is in fine fettle and deserves to run for a good while longer. Go see it, even if you've seen it before!

Saw this again this afternoon, hadn't planned on it, but I had some free time and got a rush ticket. I'd seen it in Manchester and was planning a return visit when covid struck. Enjoyed most of it, but some songs really are just fillers and I still hate the dancers in the Doc's songs. It was the effects that make this show for, they looked really good from my seat in the dress circle. Surprisingly well behaved audience given the high proportion of children present! Glad I saw it again but wouldn't rush back.
