Is 18th February now confirmed as the cast recording release date or was that a rumour? I think it was moved back? There is a book too. - But not out until May.

Not going to be a long book...
'How did we make it? Poorly!'
(I'm still bitter this show isn't better. Can you tell? :') )

Finally got around to seeing this last night. I enjoy watching the films but wouldn't say I'm an obsessed fan, but I was just rather disappointed by the show. I left feeling like I'd had an ok time, but couldn't have sung you a single line from any of the songs. The novelty value of seeing the cast do decent impressions of their film counterparts went away after their first scenes. The effects are impressive but the droning songs just keep coming and coming. This could have been amazing but it just felt a bit flat. I'd rather watch the film again.

In the interval and I really don't like it. The scenery and effects are great, and there's nothing wrong with the performers.
The dialogue and songs are dire though. It's fast paced one minute, then slow and tedious.
I'm staying as my friend is enjoying it, just hope I enjoy the second half more!

I was there tonight too, and I had a really good time with it. It's no masterpiece or anything, the songs are totally forgettable, but yet I had a fun time. Exceeded my expectations.

Second half marginally better, although could have been a lot shorter. The reprise of that terrible first song at the end did not fill me with joy, they should have done Power of Love or Johnny Be Good again.
The effects were brilliant though.

Caught the matinee of this today, Row N of the Stalls for £25 on TodayTix (amazing view from this seat, I must say).
This is definitely an average musical, but as a stage spectacle, it's brilliant. Some of the best technical effects I've ever seen. It's really raised the bar in what can be achieved on stage I think.
The performances were great as well - Olly Dobson sounds just like Michael J Fox and was very likeable. Roger Bart is having the time of his life up there and deserves a lot of praise. Hugh Coles and Cedric Neal also brilliant.
All in all there's a lot more to like than hate and it's worth a Rush gamble anytime. It's not a bad show. Just musically disappointing (who thought that Act 2 opener was a good idea?!)

It’s only been four months since I saw it and I can’t remember a single thing about the Act Two opener…

Listened to the cast recording through a couple of times now. There are some nice vocal moments which I enjoyed. Particularly Olly Dobson. It was nice reliving the instrumental moments too (last 20 mins of the show)
I saw Mark Oxtoby in the west end and not Roger Bart and think I prefer Oxtoby’s voice both speaking and singing.
Highlights probably ‘Cake’, ‘Future Boy’ and ‘This One’s for the Dreamers’
There are a few rough moments in the edit too. Crackling vocals etc.

I've found the score has grown on me significantly having seen the show 3 times now, and now listened to the cast recording a couple of times. Highlights for me are both of Rosanna Hyland's songs, For The Dreamers, Gotta Start Somewhere, plus the songs from the film towards the end of the show. Also love how much of the instrumental sections are on the recording as well.

Show cancelled 15 mins into second half after "Dreamers" due to medical issue backstage. Very long delay before cancelling the performance and releasing the audience. I do hope whoever is affected is okay and the generous applause from the audience was heard by the cast and crew behind the curtain.

^I was at that performance last Saturday night. It was an extremely long delay before they canceled the performance. Has anyone heard what the "medical issue" actually was? Was it too late in the performance to put in an understudy to finish the show? I had seen the show the previous Monday and had found it so much fun that I decided to go back again on Saturday to finish out my week of theatre on a high note before heading back to the US on Sunday morning so consider myself lucky that I had already seen the entire show. I had purchased my ticket thru TKTS and emailed them first thing Monday morning after arriving back home with a copy of my ticket and receipt and within less than a half hour I had an email reply back from them saying that they had refunded my ticket purchase back to my credit card. I feel bad for those who didn't get to see the entire show and may not have the opportunity to re-book for a future performance.

You’re making an assumption it was a cast member the “medical issue” related to. It could just have easily been a member of the stage crew or band, who don’t have covers on site.
