If ther world hasn’t imploded I still plan to see this in Manchester when I’m there in 10 days. However they seemed to have sold a few dozen seats for each performances that week and haven’t reduced ticket prices (like they have this week and next).
Does anyone know when they reduce prices, or if they will just come instead? If producers are reading - please don’t comp, I wanna come see the show but don’t wanna pay nearly £50 to be in the grand circle....

I thought the performance on Sport Relief came across really well and would make me want to see the show if it toured to a venue near me. The panto noises from the audience were a bit annoying (over enthusiastic ooh and forced laughing a bit too loud), please tell me that hasn’t been happening in Manchester? I’d find it very distracting during a musical.

So what started as a promising performance in the end put me right off! |

So, thoughts from this afternoon.
As a musical it is ok, some good songs in there but also a lot of filler. It would have worked just as well as a play with music in my opinion.
The storytelling is well done, some obvious changes from the film but all the main elements are there. It is well acted and played for laughs which suits the material.
The cast are mostly superb, really getting into their characters and hamming it for all its worth. The only exception for me I'm afraid was Olly Dobson who I felt was very weak in the first quarter, as if he had decided to turn up but not give it any effort. He warmed up as the show went on but that casting could be much much stronger in my opinion. However, Roger Bart, Hugh Coles, Rosanna Hyland and Cedric Neal were excellent. Roger Bart deserves credit for going further than simply doing a Christopher Lloyd impersonation.
As a spectacle though, it is absolutely stunning - the sequence towards the end involving the clock tower towards the end is one of the most stunning spectacles I have seen in a musical, and the whole show looks incredible with fantastic use of scenery, props and projections. The lighting is fantastic, the time travel elements are really well done. The clock tower sequence is so stunning that afterwards the show didnt really recover for me, how do you follow that? As it turns out, with a fairly perfunctory rendition of the Power Of Love apparently.
So this does sound very negative, I actually had a great time but this is more because of being wowed by the technical elements as opposed to it being a great musical. I hope it has a further life beyond Manchester because it warrants it.
On a side note, Carrie Hope Fletcher was in the audience a few seats away and was being very gracious with people going up and asking for selfies.

I was wondering - is there stuff booked into the Opera House for after this?
If say lock down was 2 months, bringing us to mid May (optimistic I know), could BTTF maybe do another month until mid June for example?
Either way - it does seem this cast hadn't been contracted for a London run after.
I'd be gutted if it went to Broadway first!

Conversely I'd paid £60 for yesterday's matinee but the seat next to mine was available for £32.50 on Tuesday. Now, as you say, pricing is back to initial level from April 28th, not that there is much likelihood of the show actually being back on by then. |

Oliver Ormson who was in the show is doing a Youtube series at the moment where where he and his girlfriend record a video of their thoughts at the start and end of each day. In this mornings video he said they had been told the Manchester run was over and they all had been asked to clear out their dressing rooms. He did say tho the show will be on again and it is not the last chance to see it. The Manchester run however appears to have finished.

Ive not heard anything from them yet, but if that’s that case they can f*** off, I want my money back in this situation.

accepting venues vouchers instead of a full refund is one easy way people can support theatre at this time.
I get some people may need this money if they are no longer receiving an income which is fair enough, but if people can then a voucher is a good compromise.

I fully agree with this sentiment and for smaller companies (Hope Mill etc) will be doing this. Problem is with ATG and the big corporates, I don't know if actors/crew/FOH will see any of this money - would probably just benefit the shareholders. So with ATG, I'll be going for refunds. It's a tricky one though and I can see both sides of the argument. Back to the show, sad that BTTF Manchester is most likely no more..... |

Very disappointed. still, there’ll be other great stuff coming along in due course. |
